428 WITH AOD, CAN IT BE DONE?

Whatever you do, DO NOT buy an AOD from the Transmission Center or whoever markets that AODominator... Nick should be along at some point to tell you why.

You can use an AOD behind it with an adapter. I Lentech or similar will handle it fine.

I wouldn't put either a T5 or an AOD behind a 428 . If you want a durable setup a C6 with a gear vendor's OD is the way to go here. I know they're expensive, but so is a built AOD that's adapted to an FE. Or just go with a lower first geared C-6 and a higher geared rearend like 3.00 or 3.25's

Anything is possible if you throw enough money at it. I'm suprised... I didn't think anyone would make an FE adaptor for the AOD- It was never designed to handle the massive low end torque output of a big block... I think I agree with DHearne...get an aftermarket overdrive to add to the C-6 - most of the ones I have seen are electrically activated - then you can run your gears

Stay far away from those guys.

I bought a dominator from them....it was the biggest peice of _ _ _ _ you could have imagined.
:(

I'm $5500 or so into my $2000 Dominator....I should have bought the Art Carr. :nonono:

I'll give you the short rundown:

Installed it....the governer valve was bad.
They sent me a new governer valve.
Installed the governer valve..transmission worked GREAT until I gave the car significant gas, then it broke.
Paid $2000 or so to get all the hardparts replaced and put back together.
Worked great....till I gave the car some significant gas..then it broke...tore the splines out of the 3rd gear hub.
Paid $1500 to get it fixed and found the primary problem...their 'specially modified valve body' was CRAP. Had a standard valve body put in with a B&M shift kit (instead of transgo) and haven't had a problem since. The only things is the tranny will shift by 3k all the time unless I am manually shifting it...which is just fine by me. They made the valve body so that it would hold gear till 5600 if you were WOT before shifting and screwed it up.
