Sadly I don't think I will complete the 4.6 dohc and 6 speed I have gotten crazy offers on the stuff that I have ready for it that it is financially good for me to sell it and drop in this 393 in it.
Jay: You bring up a good point about the weight, it is heavy, but for a cruiser it is fine and it is hella fast in a straight line. Eventually I want to try it ona road course or autocross. And yes, it is real quick with that much torque. Also, everyone has small block stuff, so cars with BB are rare and a sight to behold.
Fos bummer but I guess you gotta do watcha gotta do. I wanted someone to give me some pointers next year when I get into my dohc project vert.
67 the FE's are getting more common, but there aren't many with the 429, 460 motors. FR has got a 514 crate motor based on the 460 that's suppose to be a monster.
Jay; I agree, there are more FE engines out there these days. When my Dad and I built the 429 a few years ago it was impossible to find an FE. Also, I don't think the Torque vs HP numbers are that far off if you compare to other FE and 385 dyno charts. Big bocks have a tendancy to make a lot more torque than stroked small blocks of equivalent displacment. But all that aside...a stroked 427W is probably a better choice for weight, fitment and accessability for engine work. However, when I open the hood people come from all around to look at the beast under the hood....and the power is amazing.
