I just purchased a 460 a few days ago and would like to know what kind of horsepower I am dealing with. It has a Comp Cam 294/304 .589/615 solid lift cam and lifters, Manley pushrods, Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake, Proform 1.73 aluminum roller rockers, MSD distributer, MSD Blaster 2 coil, MSD 6AL ignition box, 750cfm Edelbrock carb, & 2 1/2 inch Summit Long Tube Headers. Also I have a pair of Super Cobra Jet heads and was wondering what kind of gain I could get out of those. Right now the heads are the D3VE-A2A heads. What else could I put on there to get more horses besides a blower and nitrous? Thanks.

you are probably making in the neighborhood of 600hp. You could swap cams and put some heavily ported heads on there and make serious power.

Would the Super Cobra Jet heads net any gains with this motor??

What mods are done to the heads that are on the motor now? 600hp sounds a little high to me. Yes those cj heads will greatly improve your power. and that cam is pretty tame for a big block if your looking to make more power you could increase the lift alot and with those super cj heads you would make copious amounts of horse power.

The heads on there are stock. How much lift would be good and give it a nice rumble? Also this is going to go in a 1969 Fastback and will be a weekend cruiser as well as taken to the track so a little driveability would be needed.

the duration you have now with a 110 lobe seperation should have a pretty nasty idle now. You could go up to .650 lift easily and still be at a conservative number with that big block. Remember big cubic inches tame cams that seem big for small blocks in the lift and duration game. My advice is call Comp Cams with all your specs and tell them your intentions and they will recomend or pick a cam just for your combo. Then you cant go wrong.

The SCJ heads are a big improvment over stock. That cam is pretty good and you will really "enjoy" the solid lifters. In my 429 I have 286/286, 588/588 and that is plenty. 600 fwhp would be a pretty easy number to get to. But everything you are doing is pointing to higher RPM performance.

I misread.....I thought the SCJ heads were on there already. Id have them mildly ported and put on there with a tad larger cam. THEN you will be making near 600hp...safely!

I would say maybe 500 as it sets now if those heads are untouched.Junk that ebrock carb and get yourself a Holley 850 dp if you want some power. Those cobra jet heads would be a nice addition but could still use some improvement.
