I'm always playing with numbers and what ifs. Anyways I was "what ifing" I had a 69/79 mustang and a 460 to go into it. What are some good "streetable" hp/torque" numbers for a 460? This is of course after the body has been stiffened, disced, rubbered, and suspensioned.

I came up with 635/605 on my desktop dyno with xe292 mechanical roller cam (254/260, 0.671/0.678) 1000cfm carb, single plane, large tub headers w/ muffs, trickflow heads and 11.3:1 compression.

Like I said this is just me playing and I'm not trying to make this a flame war of what streetable horsepower is. I'm also just trying to get opinions on what a weekend warrior motor would be that could be driven to another state if I wanted to and not over heat or eat itself. The one I have above has the power level from 3200 to 7500 and I think thats to much for the street. I would like to have it around 2k-6500 or so but that just how I have my 302 now.

Again, this is just my imagination not give me the "your crazy for even thinking this" I just don't know enough about BBFs so I'm asking! :D

514's can be built tough and on the cheap and make around 600-620hp with 1979 model smog heads and a nice single pattern solid lifter flat tappet cam like Clay Smiths C304 , which is like 258 @ .050 and .615 lift .

You can also run flat-tops so no need for alot of ignition advance and use 87-89 octane .

The engines work well in automatics with 3.2x series gears both heavy and light cars but the more head , the better they go .

I don't know it just seems like a lot to me to try to drive on the street. If I did get around to being able to build one it would be either in a fox body or 69/70 stang and I don't really want to tub it unless it already is tubbed.
