Hey guys i will be posting a lot of questions here so any help you can give me about thie project will be greatly appriciated.
1986 4cyl notchback --> 1986 8cyl GT-40 x303 notchback :cheers:

First question:
Rummor is the rear control arms are not the same in the 4cyl as they are in the v8...
True or Not True? :shrug:

They look the same and feel the same. My buddy does these a lot and told me they're the same and dont need to be replaced, however a websight i found said they were not as strong as the 8cyl control arms. :bang:

hey importeater i see you did this project as i searched through the forums a bit... Did you change yours? i see parts lists and its not on the list, but it doesnt say dont change them.. The original uppers i want to leave in as they dont appear too worn, the lowers i have a fresh set for allready.

i dont however have all day to sit and read forums looking for the yes or no answer, so if anyone knows for sure leme know, thx.

And i am still looking for that part name for the bushing above the center of the rear housing, bolted to the body, suposedly used to prevent the rear from comming up too far on launches.
thx

The rear control arm bushings changed sometime from round ones to oval shaped ones. I would not bother changing them at the outset of a project. The stock old ones will work fine while you dial in the rest of the car.

I am into the 12s with stock 1980 rubber bushings on all of my control arms....

WOW great help bro i was just about to post that the old lower ones i just finnished taking out and saw the oval vs round bushing diferance, these i am replacing with the v8 ones that i got from a friend for free and in really great shape. however the uppers i supose i will just leave alone then, not having replacements, and they look fine as far as the rubber.. The car must nto have had many original miles as the body has no rust or ware anywhere.
the for the help everyone especially rd
