alright i found a 4r70w for sell off 4.6 mustang. how hard would it be to put it in my 94 with my 351w efi. i know the v6 should bolt right up but i didnt know about the 4.6.

with one this cheap i may be able to swap the internals to my aode case. i have heard of this before but i dont know how difficult it is or if there is any draw backs of it.

should i get it or let it slide they are wanting 150+ shipping

for me, the changes necessary to swap to the 4R were not worth the pain it caused. but i went from manual to auto too so that was an additional pain that you wouldn't have

if it were me, i'd let it go and keep an eye out either for one off a v6 or just save for a rebuild. the shipping is probably gonna run $150 or so and then you need the different bell housing if you want to use the 4R as is

my other piece of advice is ... don't do too much all at once. get one thing done to where you are happy with it, and then move to the next. that way you see progress and there are fewer variables so you can isolate the source of whatever problems you might have. you already have a big enough change in the motor swap ... why add a whole other set of variables to the mix ... and a project that will keep you off the road for another 3 months (or however long it takes)?

i'm not saying the tranny thing shouldn't be done, but i bet that AODE will hold up for a while after you get the motor installed. just drive it normally and don't do 5000 rpm launches and it probably won't die immediately.

thats why i was thinking of getting a set of gt40 irons and put them on as is. and be done with the motor and just try to get it in the car. this car isnt my only source of transportation now, so i wont have to worry about having it to get back to work and all.

i just didnt know if i should jump on this deal 4R for around 300 to my house. and you said i would have to get a different bell housing. which housing would i have to get? one off of a newer 3.8 mustang?

i guess if your goal is to have a 4R in there anyway (i just looked at your sig), then this might be a good deal. you would need a bell housing off a V6 that had a 4R.

i still think, though, that if you bide your time, a 4R from a V6 will pop up and you will be able to get both for a better price than you will have to pay for them seperately.

how many miles are on this tranny and how long has it been sitting?
