4R70W output shaft bushing removal/install

I have a 99 GT automatic (4R70W) 103k+miles on it. It has a leak coming from the tranmission output shaft. I bought the seal and bushing kit. I figure since I'm there changing out the seal, I might as well change the bushing out also. My question is, how do you get the bushing out and the new one in?
If it's a real pain in the arse, then I'll just change the seal and call it a day :)

Any help/input is very much appreciated.... :nice:

The Ford service CD does not have an item specifically dealing with changing a tail shaft bushing. The procedure to remove the tail shaft looks straight forward.

If I were to guess, I would suspect that it is pressed in. Maybe someone with more detailed knowledge can chime in. However, if this repair doesn't deal with a specific complaint, sounds like a lot of work to me.

Yep, it's certainly more work than I want to get involved in...there is a specialty tool to remove and install that bushing that I found on the net...but it's over 100 dollars...So I think I'm just going to change out the seal. Hopefully that takes care to the leak.....Thanks a bunch :nice:
