Whats going on fellas...

I post in the 4.6 section all the time, and would have been here a long time ago as I almost bought a 5.0 Mustang a couple of times, but the deals ended up falling through... So now I have a 2000 Spring Edition GT 5 speed, bolt on/geared/tuned car. It's fun to drive but there are many days I wish I had bought the '95 GT that slipped through my fingers.

Anyway, I was just given a running non-roller 5.0 that was a CFI motor in an '85 (IIRC) Mustang. No accessories, but it has the oil pan and I scored some valve covers for it. No intake, carb, exhaust, nothing... but this will be my first time tearing into an engine and I am really exited about it...

I am planning on a basic rebuild, probaly nothing extreme at all. The idea now is probaly .030 over, or whatever it will take to clean up, re-use the crank if possible, new rods/pistons/rings/bearings and MAYBE if I can score a set of GT-40 or GT-40P heads (and freshen them up), aswell as a new cam and lifters.

I don't have a home for this thing, so it will be a over-time rebuild, but I am looking into kits that will allow me to swap it into my Jeep Cherokee.

So get used to me, I am sure I will be blowing the board up when I start wrenching on it, lol.

It's cool you have a different opinion on it.

I love that Jeep though, and would really like to shoehorn this engine in there one day.

Different strokes for different folks...

Thats cool about the Wrangler. Most people go with a GM engine, 350 swaps are really popular. Nice to see someone went Blue Oval with it.

That would be a cool swap. 5 speed V6 cherokees are fun enough as they are. What year is the Cherokee? I've always liked the '93 bodystyle.

Mine is a '97. If I did the swap it would be converted to a 5 speed most likely, unless I found a good way to put a built AOD or C4 behind it.

The only V-6 Cherokee's were pre-87 models and they got the POS 2.8 V6 from GM. All the rest were AMC derrived 4.0 I-6's...

Well I dunno... What is wrong with building a Mopar piece for it? I have a pretty open mind on car stuff for the most part, but cross breeding motor swaps irk me. Maybe its because I've seen too many Fords with SBCs or LSXs in them.

I had a buddy in college with a Grand Cherokee that had a 318 V8. He had a intake, cam and exhaust on that, and it seemed to move alright... Just a suggestion
