What's the difference between the 4.6 281 cubes vs. 5.0 302 cubes?

SN's are nowhere near as bad as the foxes when it comes to rain and such becaues they are heavier. Last night I got caught in the rain with my "new" 88 GT and I was reminded of how much of a handfull they can be in the rain especially when compared to my truck. The stock contol arms and such are so flimsy that once you do start to lose control it's more difficult to regain control. IMO, UCA's and LCA's aftermarket replacements is a safety issue as much as performance.

Either way, if you get this car be extra carefull in slippery conditions.

What does SN stand for?
The fox body suspension is so predictable that one can induce the oversteer at will.

I think I remember reading a long time ago that this problem was fixed in the later foxes (i.e 92-93). I've been driving for 4 years and my car has never fishtailed or oversteered in the rain.

I have heard that the automatic cars aren't as bad and I drove one with 2.73 rear end but the manuals are terrible and with 3.55 gears that makes it worse?

What's a SN-95? What does it stand for? I don't believe in abbreviations.

sn-95 is the name of the chassis of 94-98 mustang.

Not sure what the point of those pictures are other than to prove people get in car accidents. I am not arguing that mustangs in the rain arent dangerous, I have had close calls myself in the rain, but I dont think young people and v8's=crash.

I got my 89 GT when I was 17 and I never wrecked mine, i had some close calls but I never endangered anyones lives. Especially since I bought my car with my own hard earned money I took care of my stuff. All kids are stupid, but there's only one way you can learn. An as far as a fox in the rain, the only way I can get my car sideways is if I push it. And in case you all don't know, all mustangs from 79-04 had the same suspension design.

anything is dangerous in any weather if you drive like an assclown so long as you are cool behind the wheel you lower your chances of wrecking. Accidents always happen though which why they are called accidents and not intentionals. You tube is good for people wrecking by doing stupid things.

mileage

My 89 LX has 196k miles on it and it runs strong no smoke no engine noise and it has plenty of power when i step on it.It was abused by previous owners to they even broke the drives seat power shifting ../sigh. I only paid $2000.00 for it tho.And i totally agree with the Fox's rear end kicking out easily in wet conditions- but once i realised it can do that its easy to avoid.Just gotta be a lil careful at intersections-turns.Its got brand new 225/60/R15's on stock magnesium 10 slot LX wheels.Soon to have some 17's Cobra's !!

I don't see how a fox can be that bad in the rain unless your tires are completely shot or you drive like an idiot. I also stated in my earlier post that I remember reading about ford correcting the oversteer problem in the 92-93 cars so maybe the earlier foxes really did have that problem.

We have owned this car for 21 years so we know and it is factory stock was adult driven and maintained which is why it still lives today.

Which brand of tire are you using? We find that Bridgestone was the best in the rain H-rated. Went through Yokohama,Good year, Michelins.

With the torque a mustang 5.0 makes no tires are going to "save" you in the rain, its all in the driver, you just have to be smarter than the rain, I have spun out a couple times in the rain (once w/ my gf doesnt make you look cool), after a few close calls I learned to drive like my grandma in the rain. Especially when I was running et street slicks on my car in the rain, you can do it, but holly **** dont go past 1/4 throttle.

Check out this link for an explantation of why the rear end does what it does when you floor the gas in a turn.
Late Model Mustang Suspension Basics

It is all in how ford setup the rear end, and the older the rubber bushings are in the system the less the suspension will be able to do its job correctly.

The only thing I really feel truly comfy driving in the rain is my boat.
