I was looking at the 5.0 stroker kit and the seller quotes"Your engine block may require clearancing for the center counterweights.", Does anyone know what they mean for this and how often it is required my car is a 99 gt so i have a Wind. block. Also if i need to "clear" it what do u do to make the clearance

Die grinder. Here's a pic of a <cough>Chevy<cough>, but the pic should help.

And another showing how the oil pan gasket was modified to fit around the clearances...

tomustang, what are you basing your response on?

If you have a 96-98 engine block, you'll have to clearance the main saddles on #2,#3 and #4. All the '99-up blocks 'should' be fine, as most company's stroker cranks are a dirivative of the forged Cobra crank.

If done properly, strokers make great power and killer midrange/low torque.

There is no replacement for displacement (except boost).

Having a stroker kit adds a little more torque, has strong forged parts which is great for your bottom end if you're going the boosted route.

That's what I plan on doing, the gains from it alone probably aren't anything amazing alone, but it all adds up in the end. I like the idea of having greater displacement. :D

It's not much more then regular forged bottom end setup either ... why not.

5.1L stroker from CHP, VT Stage 2 cams and ported heads in an aluminum block for the KB on 9psi.
