Ok first off this isnt a mustang sorry! the guys on the t-bird forum are mad because i want to ditch the SC 3.8 but after blowing it up for the 2nd time and fighting never ending tuning/drivability issues im done with the motor and going carb v8! I found a good deal on a low mile 5.0 out of a 92 crown vic and am wanting to convert to carb car wieghs 4000lbs and has a AOD and 3.27 gears I would like somthing at least 250hp+ What all is involved in converting to a carb? obviosly i need a Intake manifold i was thinking of this

GT-40 heads
Edelbrock performer intake
edelbrock 600cfm carb
? cam
headers
vac advance distributor
duraspark ignition???

exhaust on the car will be re-used it consists of 2.5" downtubes to a Y 3.5" mid pipe past the tank to another Y and 2 2.5" tailpipes running into dynomax super turbos so im sure it will flow descent.

No smog here and its not a DD just sick of no reliability with the SC'd 3.8 and refuse to build ANOTHER one jesus i have a small fortune in it only made 275hp at the wheels and constantly had to tinker with it. crap drivability and idle! anyway any help with this would be appreceated.

\thanks

One more thing what is involved in converting a EFI fuel system to work with a carberator? can you just dissable the intank pump and run a aftermarket electric pump near the tank? or does the fuel system need to be modified and the return eliminated? I do have a mechanical adjustable fuel pressure regulator for a carb can i add a T between the two fuel lines at the engine bay and run the regulator off the T and then to the carb where the excess fuel just returns to the tank?

Ok bought the following

87 roller motor out of a lincoln TC 50k on it!
GT-40 heads
E-303 cam
Malory lowpressure by-pass adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Ford HEI distributor
Edelbrock 650cfm electric choke carb

B&M 2800rpm stall tourque convertor
3.73 rear-end already built with trac-loc (did some trading)

Question now is what Intake manifold should i run?

How much horsepower can i expect?

Should i degree the cam/Is there anything online on degreeing one?
