I am converting my 93 2.3 mustang to a 5.0 i have a cobra motor out of 95 COBRA AND A X3Z computer from a 93 cobra i also have a 93 lx 5.0 i am using for a parts car. this brings me to my questions 1st question i have 24# injectors can i use the same mass air sensor that is on my 5.o it is for 19# and the X3Z comnputer is set for 24# . the next is the pcm where is it located on the 5.0, and will i have to take out the dash to connect the new harness? any feed back would be great thanks :flag:

The 93 Cobra did use a 70 mm MAF which is closer to the 94-95 gt MAF. If you use the standard 55 mm MAF you might run a little rich. You going have to upgrade the 60 lph fuel pump to something higher to feed those 24 lb injectors.

I used a 92 5.0 engine hardness in my 93 swap and I didn't have remove the dash. Your gauge cluster should be changed, if not your tach will read double.

Wow!
You have all kinds of parts to throw around.
The general consensus is that the A9L is more aggressive with spark and fuel than the X3Z.
However, the x3z will work well with the 24lb injectors and the 70mm maf from the 95 Cobra.
As for using the 5.0HO MAS on a Cobra computer...
There is still some debate on that. I will be calling Ford tomorrow (stupid holiday weekends) to possibly get a definative answer. The concern is that the MAS from a 5.0HO will not match the MAF transfer in the Cobra EEC.
It would be best just to use the 70mm MAF from the 95, if you have that. If not the next best option may be an aftermarket MAF calibrated to your combo.
You will not want to use the 55mm MAF from the 5.0HO on the Cobra computer. :nonono:

The ecu on your lx will be behind the passenger kickpanel.

Sorry for being so random

I already have 76mm mass air "tube" its a pro-m however it does not come with the sensor, the electronic part, i wanted to know if i could pull the sensor off of the 5.0 mass air and put it on the pro-m 76mm, and oh yeah i have a ton of parts, this project has been almost two years in the making. i will be selling all the stuff i dont use from the 5.0 and will be selling them ie.. A9L, e7's, short block cam ect. probably mid may ill post them on the classifieds later then to ebay after wards if i dont get any bites. thanks for the help

I don't use Pro-M meters so someone should confirm what I am about to say.
Pro-M calibrates the electronics to the tube. You can't bolt your sensor onto that meter. You may be able to order a sensor from Pro-M? They will need to calibrate the sensor to the tube AND the injectors you are using.
Again, someone should confirm this.

I would use the A9L, since you aren't trying to match up to a stock MAF. Matching a stock 70mm Ford MAF is about the only good reason to run a X3Z over an A9L.

Tweecer support for the A9L is much better if you ever go that route.
Like I stated earlier, the A9L is a little more aggressive than the X3Z.

My recommendation: A9L, 24lb Inj, 76mm Pro-M (cal'd for the A9L and 24lb Inj).

Those are my thoughts,
