I know some one that has a cheap 93 mustang 4 banger with an auto. What would I have to have to do a FI 5.0 swap? What parts will I need? I have a T-5 out of a 96 V6 will this tranny work? Any good write ups on this ? Thanks

i have done the swap personally and i would suggest you just buy a 5.0

I have done a few and I disagree. I found a cheap 4cyl with motor issues for approx $500 have a strait body to start with, no cracks in the floorpan next to the floor bolts, torque boxes are great.....I guess it all depends on how much time/money you want to put into it and what you want the end result to be. I'm in a good mood so this should keep you busy for a while..

I'm planning to do the swap soon.

________________________________________
this is the list i have gathered both by looking in magazines and around the corral

change from 4cyl to 5.0....

tranny
motor and all v8 components (obviously..)
all exhaust components (obviously..)
v8 motor mounts
change the tach
master cylinder, brake booster
suspension
brakes
fuel lines
fuel pump ???
brake lines - on the 4cyl the brake lines are dangerously close to the exhaust pipe
passenger side exhaust hanger
power steering pump - not mandetory, but the v8 one is better
rad
front and rear sway bars
vacuum distributer (vacuum tree or whatever)
the v8 has a thing in the passenger fender wall to store extra vacuum along with the regular vacuum ball
throttle cable
MAP sensor
the gas pedals that came with the 5.0's are bigger as well.
rear end
5sp drive shafts are the same in the 4cyl and v8, so i have been told
electrical, you have to have the engine harness' from a 5.0, the rest hooks right up except you have to extend the alternator wire because its on the drivers side with a 4cyl, and the passenger side on the v8.
double hump tranny cross member

gas tanks are the same, K members are the same

and ofcourse 5.0 badges

anything i have missed.. throw it in
anything i have screwed up on, correct it.

with my swap, i am using the whole chassis, dash, and engine harness from a 5.0 so it won't be nearly as difficult. but the regular swap shouldnt be too bad anyways.

The V6 trans output shaft (to the engine/clutch) is approx. 1'' longer than the 86 to 93 trans. The bell housing and clutch are different too. This is to postion the trans back farther in the console of the other body style. You can convert is because it is still a t5, but try to exchange with a local junkyard instead.

By the way that is a shat pile of work i am doing a 95 V6 to 5.0 swap, better get a donor car that's smashed.
