yesterday my buddy and i saw a fox 5.0 that sounded almost exactally like a mod 4.6 but i couldnt catch up to him and ask what exhaust he had because we were in his slow p.o.s. anyone know what exhaust he might be running? trust me, i absolutely love the sound of my car, and i dont want to change a thing, but im just wondering how it could have sounded so much like a modular motor. the car wasnt that fast either, so im really really doubting it has any serious work done. im thinking maybe borla or slp....it was wierd though it had the lumpy, rolling tone on accerleration and popped and crackled a little bit when he let off...it was definitely unique. any ideas?

My car sounds alot like it has a mod motor, I have 1 5/8 BBK headers, a 2.5" off road H pipe, and a magnaflow 2.5" catback.

no way...i have shortys, o/r h and 40s and it sounded nothing even close to my car. flows have a very distinctive sound and this wasnt it. it sounded more like a straight through muffler...maybe a magnaflow, borla, slp, bassani or something. no way was it a chambered muff.

kinda similar to how it sounded...but i couldnt find anything that close

like i said...it definitely didnt seem like that kind of car. it was in decent shape, not show car, not crapper, and i doubt it was a sleeper. i guess its possible he had a mod motor, but with how everyhting looked, it seemed very unlikely to me. my buddy has a 95 cobra and s#it his pants when we heard it because he wants his to sound like that. right now he has bassisi headers, prochamber and 40 flows and all it does is resonate. no throatyness to it at all. i told him to get some spintech prostreets but he doesnt want to spend the money and not be happy.

Dynomax Race bullets make a pushrod sound almost like a modular.

Maybe he did have a 4.6 swap because the 5.0 and 4.6 sound totally different. I think they are easy to tell apart and it's tough to make one sound like the other.

I agree, if it sounded exactly like a mod motor it probably had one. I have dynomax bullets, and the car SCREAMS at wot like a mod motor, but still way too deep to sound like a mod motor. Mod motors with an xpipe and any mufflers, have that screaming, robot sound.

It might have had an exhaust you havent heard of yet, or havent heard on a car yet... I am putting my new exhaust on tomorrow and really want the mod motor sound.

I have Mac LTs, VRS o/r X, and Spintech Pro Streets going on. Im hoping it sounds raspy and mean, but only one way to find out !

I went right through VRS, got it shipped fast and looks really nice. Granted the X section doesnt look like a Bassani piece (instead of two crossing pipes it look like two pipes cut and welded together) but for the price it looks really good. If it sounds how I want (like a 4.6) I will definately post some videos. Maybe even a driving vid (I think under loads cars sound sooo much better than revving in neutral) even with the car in a million pieces.

thatll be awesome. I had to ask them some questions because my long tube headers are 3bolt flange, and hedman headers so i was wondering if they knew if it would fit, etc. VRS was friendly, I asked pypes like 3 simple questions in my email, they responded with a 4 word answer that answered one question. I sent them another email asking just the question i needed answered and they sent me the same answer back, and the person misspelled words, and it was in all caps. My friend was very satisfied with pypes, I might go with them becuase their alot cheaper, but I know they dont have the best customer service, I guess their busy? oh well.

Yeah makes me wonder how the sound is affected... but no worries. As long as its loud and raspy Ill be happy, and if not, its just money.

Also I didnt even look at pypes. I liked how VRS made their site simple to use and had exactly what I wanted for good money. They were fast, used paypal and got me the part. I highly recommend them for that, and we will see what its like.
