I got my car running tonight but something is off.

It cranked and started and the timing was set properly but it sounds like something is off with the timing. I reset the timing like 3 times and something is still up. A couple times when I was messing with the timing it backfired through the carb and lit fire too.

I even tried turning the rotor 180* just in case...and that just caused havoc lol

Heres the setup

Holley 650dp
tfs heads
msd ignition
duraspark distributer
blaster coil

My coil is a little crunched but I tested it and it was giving out good spark so now I am at a loss.

Alright Im fed up. Heres the rundown from today

I reset all the rockers. I tightened them to 1/4 turn past zero lash.

Car ran a bit better but not much. It still wouldnt idle and the cylinders 1,4,5,6 were all considerably cooler (header primary tube) than the others. These cylinders are also the ones connected to the top plane of the intake.

Next I rebuilt the entire carb, everything looked ok except a blown powervalve, which didnt suprise me after the 3 carb fires yesterday.

Put the new carb on and it seemed to start running good, but it still would not idle and was running super rough. Eventually it just backfired through the carb again and probably blew the new power valve. The same cylinders were also still cooler than the others (the header primary that is)

I had a vacuum gauge on there and it did not go below 10 and this is with me doing a happy dance on the gas pedal. Most of the time it wasnt even registering.

I wish that it is just a vacuum leak but the motor only has 3 vacuum lines. I plugged the one from the rear of the car (for PCV) then I plugged the one for vacuum advance. The only other one left is the monster one that goes to the brake booster. Im going to try plugging that just in case.

I also pulled plugs 1 and 2 and they are wet and dark, big surprise

And to top it all off my starter solenoid is now dead so I am stuck here. Im really getting fed up with this thing.
