so i've been askin around and i haven't gotten a straight answer.
i've been thinking about swaping out the old v6 for a 5.0 yet i dont know if the 5.0 will fit. i've been told yes, no, maybe so.
so im pretty happy i found this site

Maybe depending upon your model year but it probably won't be easy. If you are going to go through all of that trouble, it might be worth it to pay the extra $5k for a Boss 302 crate engine in it instead of the regular 5.0 Coyote.

If you are talking about the old 79-93 Fox 5.0's, Yes they will fit all 94-04 Mustangs. But you will need the transmission and the wiring harness as well unless you plan to go carbed. If the transmission you have in the V6 now is a 5 SPD manual, then you can use that transmission with the 5.0 if you swap out the input shaft on the transmission from one from a T5 from a 5.0. The T5 from the 3.8 has a shorter/longer input shaft than the 5.0 so it would not be a straight swap. I am not sure about the Auto trans though.

the one i have now is an auto. i was thinking about converting it to a manual. but im being told that i should just sell my stang and get a 5.0.
im kinda on a tight bugets so what would be a more reasonable thing to do?
stick to the swap or sell it and just buy a 5.0?

^ when you say 5.0 are you referring to the NEW Coyote 5.0L, 32-valve engine, or the old pushrod 4.9L engine that Ford decided to call a 5.0 found in the Fox body and 94-95 Mustangs?

the old 4.9L pushrod engine found in the 94 and 95's, cause im not sure if the new coyote engine will fit.
and im on a 5k-7k buget. and my plans right now are to swap the engine and convert my auto to a manual.

The old "4.9" was actaully labeled the 5.0. And the new Coyote 5.0 will cost you about $11K grand... and thats just for the engine, not including the wiring harness and computer and motor mount adaptor kit.

How much HP are you looking to go with? or is it you just want a different engine in there besides the 3.8?

for now i want a different engine in there besides the 3.8 because i want to be able to take it to the track and be able to race some of my friends with a chance of winning lol.
in the distant future im planning on turning my stang into dragster and buying my dream car
but for now i just need to wait.

Where are you shopping? The new 5.0 retails from FRPP for just over $6000, the 5.0 out of the Boss Mustang retails for $11,000.

oops. my bad. you're right. Somehow got the big boss mixed in there. It's $6099 at LRS. That still does not include the transmission, motor mount adapters and wire harness.

The stock Fox 5.0 is good for up to near 500 HP. After that you'll need a different block like a Dart. A block girdle just wont help much really. I also don't know what you're looking to whoop at the track. Just work your way up. Even for $6100, that's still hefty. You could do a lot to an old skool 5.0 with that kind of money, including supercharging and HCI kits + chip.
