I'd like to know who'd beat each other OFF the line... I know the RX-8 has 280horses roughly and like 168 torque haha.

I would put my money on the 5.0, but i'm not seeing how this is "technical post but oh well" but 5.0 all the way especially with 3.73's or better out back!

does the rx8 have 280 at the wheels. I saw one the other day while i was in my moms expedition and it seemed pretty fast. I wished a had my car.

there's no way it has 280 at the wheels... those cars aren't too impressive in straight lines.

I think the 5-speeds only run around 14 seconds in the 1/4. not that fast at all...

They are overrated from tha factory. They are rated at 280 but only making 250ish HP at the flywheel.

RX=8 owners are pissed.

I beat one in my '03 GT last week. It hung with me so i would assume any solid 5.0 should be able to take it.

the rx-8 is only rated at 240 hp and it was running at like 10-15% less than that, which like mike said made most owners or perspective owners mad.

yeah i just looked it up and it is only rated at 238hp for the 6speed and 197 for the automatic. lol oh and that power level is made at 8500 rpm and it runs 15.15 in the 1/4.

You'd best hope you've got enough stuff to leave 'em far behind before you reach the twisty stuff, because if it comes to stopping or making the car turn - the Rx8 will win those contests EASILY.

the new rx-8 rotary only makes 238 or so horse power and thats with the manual , the auto makes 200 torque is way low so 5.0 would murder it off the line

Well, assuming the motor, trans, and driver all all equal, i would have to go w/ the rx8. This is due to the fact the rx8 is only 3000lbs compared to the 3200-3300lbs of the fox.

I beat one of the RX 8s at the 1/4 mile Thursday night. He was a real cocky douchebag but we got lined up and it looked like he got great traction but I was spinning all threw 2nd and I beat him pretty bad. I think he ran a 15.3x but a different car that I think is pretty impressive is those S 2000's, the stocks ones aren't all that great but there was one at the 1/4 that had a supercahrger and a whole bunch of stuff and he was running 12's. I think he said he had 5K in Mugen suspension components. Then I thought wow, 35000 for the car, about 15,000 for all the other stuff... and then twelves. Twelves are nice but what could you do with 50K to a 5.0?

By the time you got the 5.0 stuffed into the Rx8 - it'd weigh about the same as a 5.0L.

The magazines managed a 14.5 @ 96 mph for the RX-8

When's the last time you raced somebody by seeing how fast you could stop?
