The biggest problem I have with the newest stuff out there is that it is so dang expensive to work on. A decent H/C/I combo on a mod motor is going to cost you nearly double that of a fox for about the same power gain. Not to mention it's fun as hell taking a fox that's 20 years old and building it well enough to smoke the newest baddest stuff without even working up a sweat. As for the sound of the 5.0's, I don't think I could ever get tired of that sound in a million years. Granted tons of stuff new and old out there sounds damn nice, but I haven't heard an S197 car yet that I thought sounded as sweet as a good old pushrod 5.0 motor. I'll just simply never get tired of the classics. As far as the value going up is concerned, I think the value will eventually be there for ones on great condition, but once it's that valuable I'd still probably hang on to it. Just my .02.

I was referring to hci on a fox. hci on a modular is such a waste of money. 2,000$ just in parts for DOHC cams, whereas a foxbody cam is $160. Ill stay with my fox thanks.

not to sound rude but it sounds like your 5.0 might be a real peice of crap. I dont know about yours but mine is mint, black on black and is a bad mofo. I think 5.0's are meant for the quarter mile. With 5- 10 k into the engine you could blow away anything that gets into your path. Yeah if you have faded paint, tore up seats, ****ty trim inside the car and duct tape holding your head unit to the dash than yeah, you should go modualr. My 5.0 is only a weekend warrior and I plan on keeping it till i go to the grave. This is my 3rd stang. One of which was 03 cobra. 5.0 ftw. Sell your 5.0 now. Your not worthy

With 5-10k in a Civic you can blow away any production stang ever made!

Isn't the highest built SOHC N/A numbers like 350rwhp or something like that. Not very impressive

If you want i can dig up my 5.0 vs my cousin's 4.6 with very similar mods before i put the blower on and i completely kick the living **** outta him , i guess the foxes aren't that old i also had ALOT less in my fox then he has in his. Unless you buy a built SOHC or a car with a DOHC motor and plan to boost it i really don't think 4.6's are worth a ****.

My notch is faster in the 1/8 than my 01GT and all it has is exhaust, maf and a TB.

If you're thinking of a 99-04 GT for speed you are sadly mistaken. If you want all out speed either buy a Kewbra or buy an F-body.

On some days, I'd like a new Mustang (or newer like 04 or whatever). Because the car will have a good shiny factory paint, be clean everywhere, new interior with all the new gadgets and ****.

Then on most days, I really love my old notchback. I love the way it drives, the 5.0 sound and how easy they are to maintain and upgrade. Also I don't have any payments or high insurance rates associated with a new'ish Mustang so I have more cash left over for paying for gas Also for speed, check my sig. I'm real close to 100mph with a tired old 5.0. I should be in the low or mid 12's with my temp engine and gears.

That 350rwhp is about as high as the 'highest' 302/306...and they have .4 Liters to do it with.

You can gain 50rwhp with a PI headswap on 96-98 cars and do it cheap, me personally it will ring up around $300 for 50rwhp. Not bad.

Foxes are old, things go wrong with them. If I was to do it over again, I'd get an sn-95 with the 5.0L if I had to have a 5.0L.

....................................

99-04 Gt will beat a stock 5.0L of any year. If not, the modular guy can not drive. I have owned both and drove several of each, I know Track times, dyno, sotp...

I love threads like this. The more people who lose interest and move on, the more Fox's that are left for me

Dude wasn't it you that i used that video i'm speaking of to PROVE how a 5.0 would kick a 4.6 liters ass with the same mods?????????????

Anyways yeah the 5.0 has .4 liters to do that with, BUT one big problem i had all of about 2k in the motor heads and cam for my 5.0 and my cousin's 4.6 was a brand new built VT motor actually stroked to a 5.0 with stage 2 everything, so what are we looking at there 8-9k, actually about 10-11k he has a P-51 intake also THAT'S JUST THE MOTOR. You can add up headers back exhaust (3"). Cobra fuel pump 30lb injectors etc. etc. etc.. Also his car did dyno 304rwhp and 320rwtq. Hmmmmmmm the 4.6 doesn't live up to the 5.0 mod for mod.

I love my 5.0, the sound, the feel the grunt. But I love the body, the agressive looks and whole thing. I understand why some of you want something new, but the sn body looks gay to me.

The foxbody is the poor mans muscle car, but can also be the rich mans buget rocket.
Mine's payed for and doesn't owe me a dime!

I was just making a point ! Money can make anything fast so dont tell me that putting 5-10k in a 5.0 will make it unbeatable! I was just making a point!

i dont understand why anyone is arguing anything. the guy wants to go modular and try something new... meh, ok. to each there own i guess. i know i personally love the sound of a 5.0 with a nice loping idle and i've been looking into the Monster Miatas... nope, not a fox, but how could would it be to have a 5.0 miata with a good h/c/i?(retoricle unless someone has a good response)

I'd honestly have to say my 5.0... Or it would be awefully close. That 4.6 is quick on high end though.
