5.0's are getting old! I mite go Modular

Find me that HCI for that DOHC and I'll show you Avril Lavinge is my girlfriend.

You have never seen a DOHC with done up heads, cams, and intake??? I used HCI to make it easier, but Im referring to doing head work, cams, and either working on the stocker or going with a diff intake.

SO wheres the pics of Avril, because there are planty of DOHCs out there with head work, cams and intakes!

I'd honestly have to say my 5.0... Or it would be awefully close. That 4.6 is quick on high end though.

NO! Its not! If it were you would have stated it instead of the 1/8 mile. My 5.0 beats 90% of modulars off the line. But half way down the track is where they pass me. Yes its AWSOME having a 0-60 machine, but Im wanting more out of my muscle car! I wanna get 25MPG with the AC on, I want a factory 500+ watt sterio, I want all the creature comforts that the new ones have.

I'm not ready to let go of my project for some rice burner or any other car for that matter. I've wanted a fox since the day my father brought home his brand new black 93 GT.

Yes, I could sell it, and wave as some jerk off drives it away. Maybe if I'm lucky, I could sell it for a little bit more than I bought it for. It would not come close to what I’ve put into it. Sure, my Stang has a fair share of problems. I could post up a list of the chit that's gone wrong with it, and the chit I've added. It's been a huge learning experience, even though it always feels like something is in need of repair. I can't help but to stare at the car anytime it's in the parking lot, in utter amazement that I own it.

It might not be as fast as other Mustangs on here, rice cars, LS1's, ect. Will any car you own be fast enough? No. Speed is addicting. If I had the money, I'd most like be driving a car with a rocket attached to it.

However, it's my Stang. It's paid off, it's a blast to drive, and the mustang community is fockin' awesome (Especially StangNet). I'm sure if I sell it, I will whine like every other guy who's sold. The "Yeah... I used to have (insert year and model of Mustang here). I should have never sold it".

So, if you want to sell it, because it's not as fast as this car or that car, as comfortable. Then do it. And get the fock out of here.

I thought it was always broke!

I do want to add in the 4.6 vs 5.0 debate...

Me and a friend were on a cruise with a few other Mustangs. Well we wanted to run a car or two there and ended up side by side with a 99-04 GT. (Pro drivers on a closed course obviousely) From a second gear roll (4000 or so) we took the GT by maybe a car until part of the way through 5th. And we didnt pull till we hit the middle of 4th gear! What makes this story impressive are the mods on the cars...

Our Car: 88 LX hatch. Stock bottem end, AFR 165s, Edelbrock Vic Jr, Comp cam, all the bolt ons, long tubes, o/r X, SLPs dumped, 3.55s etc...

His car: 99-04 GT, Bone stock with an off road H and hacked together flowmaster CB!

The 88 hasent been tuned yet, but this GT did run side by side with a HCI fox!

Go modular and get pretty much unnoticed in my neck of the woods. There are just far too many of them in Toronto; they get lost in the mix of higher end sports and luxury vehicles. Even a 03/04 Cobra won't get a guy following you for 5 miles giving you the thumbs up whilst having his jaw hang two inches lower than usual.
And what's that you say about sound? The 5.0 roar is eternal and the everlasting definition of pure badass.

2001 Mustang GT Coupe
260 HP
3241 lbs Curb Weight
12.5 lbs/hp

1991 Mustang LX Coupe
225 hp
2775 lbs
12.3 lbs/hp

From strict math, let alone power band, gears etc... The 5.0 holds it's own.

The 4.6 would look as if it's sitting still from a stop and the 5.0 would get caught up to (if not passed but I doubt it) on high end.

Well I'm still gonna have it,Im just looking for a different DD. I'd keep it for a backup, and to race with.

Well, in that case. You can continue to type to me. I'm still looking into a RS or WRX for a daily driver. I don't believe I'll race with it, but anything is possible.

I dont give a rats ass about being noticed!
And a car made in the 1980's is "NOT" the quitisential sound of muscle! Ever hear a Chevy 427 L-88 screaming out of a pair of factory side pipes? Or how about a SBF nestled in the back of a Pantera?

I'm sorry but an AFR'd stang with all the toys vs. a near stock new edge is rediculous.

Go get your **** tuned. Seriously. That should be a low 12 sec ride, whereas the new edge is a mid 14 at best.

4.6 = timing chain BS. I hate in on my 4cyl....I dont like madness on my mustang. 5.0 = easy to work on, simple, can get stuff anywhere for it.

A P/I swap 4.6 is nice, but the dohc cam cars DO run really, really well. It's all a $ game though. Everyone's all "I've gone (X) with $(x). Get over it. A COMPLETE non hack car, that has some nice things on it costs $.

I've beaten LS1's with a $900 DSM, a die grinder and $40. Who cares. It'll show half the foxes in this thread tailights. Its a 4cyl... blah

Point is, build what you like. If you're tired of the fox, don't ask a message board. Get what you want. Do you ask them all your decisions in life? I LOVE my sn95 5.0 Stock is the uber-turd, but it will be fun. Is it $ yea..Could I do it cheaper? Sure. Do I want junkyard parts and and a thrown together car? Not again ;)

I redid a fox for my brother, cause I LOVE foxbodies. Yea it drives like ****. It's a fox. That's what they do, that's what makes them special. Its a hotrod. Nothing more. It's WHY its so fun.

You want a DD, hands down sn95 or newer.
Want to go fast for not alot of money? Get something old. Mod it cheap...and get something else to drive to work. Like a 30+mpg import.

Carry on.

Dude wasn't it you that i used that video i'm speaking of to PROVE how a 5.0 would kick a 4.6 liters ass with the same mods?????????????

Anyways yeah the 5.0 has .4 liters to do that with, BUT one big problem i had all of about 2k in the motor heads and cam for my 5.0 and my cousin's 4.6 was a brand new built VT motor actually stroked to a 5.0 with stage 2 everything, so what are we looking at there 8-9k, actually about 10-11k he has a P-51 intake also THAT'S JUST THE MOTOR. You can add up headers back exhaust (3"). Cobra fuel pump 30lb injectors etc. etc. etc.. Also his car did dyno 304rwhp and 320rwtq. Hmmmmmmm the 4.6 doesn't live up to the 5.0 mod for mod.

Yep it was me:nice:

It was also a few years ago, parts availibility has went up and prices are going down.

My friends bolt-on/stage 2 cam car (everything else is stock dynoed 288rwhp in 100* heat the first time on the dyno. They said with some cooler weather they could tune it up to '300rwhp'.

Let's see a 5.0L (which has .4 liters more) dyno 288rwhp in 100* heat with just bolt-ons and a cam.:p This car runs full weight/full accessories too.

In your video, drivers played a big factor and tune.

They run high 13's (99-04) with a good driver/5spd at 100mph.

05's run mid-13's at 103-104mph.
