Hi folks!
High level questions.. I have a 2001 Cobra Convertible; enjoyed her every day since I bought her brand new (4.7 miles) back in 2001 . Black w/tan top, two-tone interior, polished factory wheels + spoiler.
While the car is still "young" at 88,000 miles - I'd like to upgrade to a more powerful naturally aspirated motor in the future - and am targeting the "buyable" version of the new GT350 engine. I'd like to keep the IRS, so:
To do this, am I correct that I'll essentially buy/need:
- 5.2L "Aluminator" XS engine long block, custom intake tube
- Modern engine control system of some kind
- Matching/upgraded transmission (+ drive shaft)
- Custom work for wiring, heating/cooling/ AC, power steering, fuel system.
- Optional tubular front k-member/coil-overs.
If this "high level" list looks correct (and I'll read more in swap guides):
Are the 2003-2004 Cobra IRS parts with some bushing/shaft upgrades good enough to handle this combo?
The 2001 cobra convertible came with subframe connectors, any recommendations for further stiffening up the chassis under acceleration? should I?
I assume not too hard to make this pass 2001 emissions standards? (Pennsylvania)
Thanks!
