5.4 PTV clearance...

I am in the process of building a 5.4 2V. I was intent on using Comp Cams stage 2 cams but I am wondering if the stage 3 cams will give me any piston issues. The engine will have flat top pistons, 10.7:1 CR, and I'm using Patriot stage 2 heads. I think I should be ok but does anyone have any info that might be useful to me on this? I'd hate to buy cams that I can't use...thanks!!

You should have no problems at all unless the cams are a country mile advanced from where they are supposed to be.

If you want to be absolutely sure, pull the heads and put a bit of clay on the piston crowns. Re-assemble, rotate the engine a few turns, pull the heads and measure the impressions in the clay at their thinnest point.

It's a lot of work but how much peace of mind do you want?

Thats a good idea Trinity. Yea it's a lot of work but you can't put a price on peace of mind...Thanks Nickmckinney, I'll keep that in mind when I do the build...
