I'm about to deploy again to Iraq, so it's about time to collect some more play $$$. The one definite is that I know I need a truck when i get home, so i will be picking up a Lightning when I get back.
The thing is this, a friend and I were spit-ballin ideas for the mustang and he came up with this, swapping motors between the lightning and the stang. This was his idea because I said i'd like to build a 5.4 for the stang. His thinking is, why have a truck that is right off the bat faster than the stang. Swap the motors and have a bad ass stang, while waiting for the built 5.4 to come in.

1st: Is this even possible? I know they are both modular blocks and I would think it'd fit. Exhaust/intake plumbing would need to be custom, and a beefier drivetrain and fuel system installed.

2nd: Do you think it's worth it? I love to work on cars, so poppin a engine in and out wouldn't bother me.

Just hopin to hear someones ideas on this.

Is it possible? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes and No. I would be worth it for a track only car but not a daily driven street car. It would be too much work for it to be streetable. But it can be streetable. You just need a **** load of money and time.

Yes it can be done. there has been several 5.4 swaps, but I beleive you'd have to stick with the stock exhaust mainfolds for clearance, and you'd need to get an h-pipe and widen the cross pipe. Hood clearance is another issue, and you'll need to get the adapters for the intake. No reason it couldn't be very streetable, and would definetely have some balls.

theres a guy here in charlotte and on teh forum toxic5.4 that has done jsut such. its a 96 thought but i think he pushing about 600hp and he just drove it to Myrtle Beach for mustang week and back with no problems.
