Ok here is my situation right now. I know where there is a wrecked 03 mustang V6 that wouldn't take much work to fix aside from a small tug on the frame machine to straighten it out and some new parts. I also have the ability to buy a 306 engine out of an 89 Notch that carried the notch to high 10 second/low 11 second slips consistently.

The engine is carbed so there won't be any swapping over any electronics.. just a bolt in. The stang is 5 speed and i'm sticking with the 5 speed trans that is on the 306 in the notch.

So my question is.. will a.. say a 94-95 tubular K member bolt right in to the 03 chassis and allow the engine to drop right in? what about a 94-95 transmission crossmember? would it be even close? Now im not an expert on Mustangs but I ask that because I'm pretty sure that the 4.6 mounts are different that the 5.0 in the earlier GT's.

It is quite do-able. Just like above, tubeular K from a 94-95, ur 94-95 trans cross member should work or u may have to buy one of the adjustable ones they use in a 6 speed swap (I think u can grind ur spot welds on the stocker but don't quote me on that).

U can buy a guage panel insert and cut out for ur own gauges and by pass all of the crap factory stuff ur going to want to upgrade anyway.

Good luck. Sounds like it would be a fun project.

Hopefully he lives in a state that has no inspection requirements if he wants to be street legal.

Your right. I don't. That will not be a problem. I wouldn't even think of this project if I did.

And the poster above read my mind above about just cutting a custom gauge panel to put in some good autometer stuff. I know a guy that has access to a waterjet machine every now and then that can cut me some stuff out of billet aluminum.

I'm going to drive the car on the street a lot and the only thing that I have decided that I may have to do without is air conditioning. That is unless I can find a way to make the early compressor work with the newer stuff in the dash... if that's even possible. I'll have to consult some HVAC people on that.

Thanks for the info guys.
