5-speed auto making whine sound

Where's the sound coming from? Is it only when you're pushing the gas? Is it only when you coast? Is it constant? Is it only during certain RPMs? These answers will all help.

It only does it when you're coming from a dead stop and accelerating. it almost sounds like a turbo spooling up. When it does start, the "whine" gets louder as you get faster and then it shifts into 3rd. the second the tranny releases 2nd, the whine stops. Early on, the tranny showed no signs of something major..just the whine. I had made a road trip to Georgia back in February and since then the car had felt like something was holding it back when it was whining...very poor acceleration and then all of a sudden it had no problem picking up speed and the whine was gone coming from a complete stop. It seems like something inside has progressed now. When I'm cruising steady at 40mph, if I go hit the gas it feels like the power is slowly coming on, so I press further on the throttle to the point where the car shifts up like almost wide open throttle just to get it going. I read a trick on another website where you re-calibrate the electronic throttle pedal when car is not actually running but its drawing power from the battery.you press down on the gas and back up, start the car and the power loss is gone..weird.. I contacted the dealership about it and I went ahead and brought the car in. Of course when they test drove the car, it wouldnt whine....ugh I left a message on Ford's website and they contacted me right away and currently I'm trying to find the time to drop it off again.
