500$ bucks to spend on HP gains... helpppp me out.

Ok, so i just got the flowmaster delta serious 2 catback installed on my mustang(hooked up to my stock Y pipe). Its not sounding like I thought it would at all, its way deeper than a honda but not deep enough for me.

My first question is how many HP is a stock V6, and a stock GT.

Lastly, I have about 500$ give or take to spend on my engine to gain some Horsepower, Im thinking a cold air intake of course, but what else? help me out.

Also how much HP do u think i have to gain for my exhaust to sound better. Thanks.

Well a stock GT 2002 and up has 250hp and 300lbft, A stock v6 1999 and up has 190hp and 225lbft... . 500$ to spend is that including install or is the money for installation separate?

for that amount I would do pulleys, intake, headers, 3.73 gears and t-lok.

For anything else I would goto www.v6mustangstuff.com and www.gefracing.com The headers will help give it a deeper sound but it's not going to scream... for an intense muscle car sound out of a V6 you would have to go with bigger cams and boreing the engine out and such, but thats a nice start.

Yea my main goal is to get it to sound better, deeper muscle car like. If I got a new CAM what would the install price be around? Im thinking thats my best option to make it sound better... THanks.

You are just not going to get a V6 to sound like a V8, no matter what mods you put on it. Since it doesn't have an alternating firing order, it will never have that V8 burble, even with true duals, and there isn't really enough exhaust flow for a deep tone. Most of the aftermarket exhausts for the six make it louder and a little deeper, but it is still a V6 sound.

I'm thinking about a cam too. I like the sound from my CAT dual exhaust, and I think I picked up a few horses on the top end, but I've definitely lost some torque. I think a cam is the only way to recover that (and then some, hopefully).

for better sound find a good quality v6 h-pipe with high flow catalytic converters, you can get an off road h-pipe(no cats) for about half the price and it will be quite loud... but wont sound too great. get the catted h-pipe and your exhaust will get louder, deeper, and still sound good and youll be able to still pass emissions and free up some hp(off road h-pipes wont pass emissions)

its true that a 6 will never sound like an 8 but that doesnt mean you cant make one badass sounding 6

thats my suggestion if you just want a little power and more sound but if you want better performance id suggest getting tlok and better gears. both of those plus install will be around 600 and will definitly give you a nice kick and allow you to leave TWO nice dark strips of rubber wherever you go(v6s w/o tlok only spin the right tire) good luck man

oh and id suggest an EBAY intake. they are around $50 shipped and perform right up there with any other intake and you can install it yourself

Get a V8.

Really though, that's the only way. Sixers can be made to sound nice, but they will never have the deep muscle car sound.
