i visited a mustang shop today, he told me he'd sell me a t-76 turbo setup for $3000, ready to go just install it. . .i told him whats done to my engine which is just a cold air intake, msd 6al ignition, stock headers, 2 1/2in off-road h-pipe into series 40's flowmasters. . i found this a little hard to believe considering the horsepower that im making and in the light of the turbo at only 8-10psi. can anyone verify if this is at all possible with my current setup, and if not, what i would need in order to accomplish 500hp with this turbo setup?

You get get just as good of a kit for less than $3k though, or put together your own. There are usually tons of guys selling kits in the classifieds on other forums

he said RWHP. i am ordering canfield 192 heads with a BBK intake, 90mm TB 90mm MAF, BBK shortys, Elec. water pump, egr delete kit along with a/c delete. 42Lb injectors w 255lph fuel pump, BBK rails and regulator, along with aftermarket O2 sensors. . i think with everything i should get at least 500 RWHP. . is there any way to take that T-76 and get more boost or do i got to get another turbo? also, which size exhaust should i go with? i got 2 1/2 on right now, just not sure if bigger is better, , also my buddy told me about a computer program that enables you to adjust and tune your car, is this a good idea? or should i let the pros do it?

which kit are you refering to for under 3,000?. and does it come with everything, including wastegate, oil lines, all the needed tubing, manifolds? if so, please let me know! also what kind of psi is it pushin?

If your refering to Andersons PMS or Programmable Engine managment system this yes, its a good idea. My car with 500 rwhp starts up and idles like a stock ride, its wonderful!! Only thing i see wrong with your list of mods is the BBK Intake. Its very expensive and offers very little performance gain over any FRPP intake. If you like it though, then the hell with what I think. Performance wise there are much better choices is all im saying. But anything better than stock!!!

There are 3 that are close competitors. The Holley Systemax, the Edelbrock performer RPM II, and the Trick Flow Track Heat. those are all higher rpm Screamers. If you plan on going beyond 6500 rpm the Edelbrock seems like the better flowing above those speeds. Idle to 6500 the Systemax owns all!!! Something to think about, with higher flowing intakes you will sacrifice RWTQ. I lost 15 ft lbs of torque going from a Cobra Intake to a Systemax. Basically of those 3 id choose the one you like the looks of the most. If your car is more of a street car Id recommend the Systemax. The guys at Anderson Ford seem to love these intakes as they make the most power for street cars, which i why i went with it.

im going to look into that. . another question, do you think that my stock internals will handle anything over 6500rpm? i know that with the setup i have now which is all stock, she loses power anything over 5400. i cant chirp 2nd if i go any higher that 5400. seems the stock cam is only making peak HP in the 1800-5400 range.

cant believe im the first to say it but a 76 is WAY too big for a 302, that turbo is happier on a bigger motor and usually guys with that size turbo ar making around 650-just shy of 800 on less then 20 psi.

If your gonna do a turbo on a 302 use a pt67 or an mp70. the 76 is gonna take more time to spool and come on like a brick ****house when it does

First thing i'd take into consideration is that "ready to go" is never just "ready to go".
I'll bet this setup with h/c/i lands up costing you 7 grand or more before it runs right.
Only to finish it just in time to blow it up.

IMO, get yourself a nice h/c/i setup, get it running right, then add your turbo or an SC.
Been a while since i saw anyone running canfields, which are known to be good heads if you get the newer ones, but i'd be weary about PTV clearance.

Don't forget either that a NIB vortech SC kit is only $1800, doesn't come with some of the extras, but the way you are planning things you probably won't need them.

YEah id personally stay away from 6500 rpm on a stock smal block this is why i went with a Systemax it makes power up to 6500 rpm. All the others make there peak higher and ill never go that high. Your stock rev limiter is 6250 anyway so unless you change it thats what it will be. Ive got a motor that with fuel should make power above 6500 but im never gonna take it that high, to much time and money to risk it!!

Exactly, be prepared to spend a lot more. Changing one thing leads to something else needing to be upgraded or breaking. Not saying don't do it but be prepared by doing your research.
