just wanted to share my disgust.

painting my interior. they've sent me three bad cans of their sealer prep paint so far...waiting on the next one, which will probably be bad as well. they keep agreeing to send me out cans for no charge, but they send me **** every time.

im just so pissed that I wanted to let everyone know that they might not be satisfied when buying this paint from these guys. not sure about their colored paints, but their sealer paint sucks.

the worst part is that I found this out halfway through painting one of the huge interior panels...pretty much ruined the whole project. only so much I could do afterwards....the topcoat came out like **** even after hours of sanding and cleaning what mess was left from the primer.

forgive my rambling, but this really pisses me off. maybe I can save someone else all the aggravation.

i dont know why you guys even using a primer for this...

all i did for mine was

1. pull all panels out...
2: wash with soap and water...
3. degreased with simple green..
4: washes with soap and water again..
4: rubbed panel down with achool
5: put one coat on...waited 15 mins... and repated this step 4 times....

ive droped screw drivers bolts my cell phone and it has not scratched our chipped anywhere....sit stuff on my dash while driving with it sliding around and nonthing...it dont chop crack or anything...

the ONLY pieces i have problems with are the door sils from getting in and out of the cash that over a few times getting in and out it rubs off from the bottoms of my shoes....

i dont know whats up with everying getting **** for results lately...just take your time...

pics...before and after

since mine was done the car has been drive a lil bit over 500 miles...it gets driven more then you would think...my dads been driving it too work a few times a week i drive it on the weekend to piqua and back...3 hour drive there and back about 180 miles round trip...im no gently with and like i said it dont crack chip scratch or anything...

its not like my car sits in the Conner and its only driving is in and out of the garage :nonono:

it was my dads DD for 2 weeks while my moms truck was getting a new trans put in..(under warenty) and she was driving my dads truck and i know my dad is not easy on it either...

Kurtis, you did a lot of complaining, but never said what was so bad about the primer. Maybe you're not prepping the surface correctly and nothing is wrong with the primer. Not an insult, just a thought. Tell us what you did to prep and what the primer did that makes you think it's bad.

took out all the parts
sprayed down with Fantastik, scrubbed with brush, rinsed
sprayed down with Tuff Stuff, scrubbed with brush, rinsed
wiped with denatured alcohol, let dry

not like any of this matters. the primer cans were practically spraying grey powder onto my work. I would quickly swipe my hand over the piece after it was dry, creating a sandstorm in my garage. the cans didn't spray right either...the paint came out in spurts, with drops of resin splattering onto the piece. other times, globs of pigment decided to fly out of the spray head. also, a steady, constant spray was never attainable, no matter how much I shook the cans. thats all i can remember right now.

Wow, I agree! The cans you got DO sound like they were junk. Probably old stock that has been sitting around for awhile. BTW, the best thing to clean plastic parts with before painting is Comet powder and a plastic brush. Cervini recommends it too, it takes everything off... old Armoral, grease, oil, mold release agents on new ground effects, etc. Then wipe with alcohol and then use plastic prep wipe and then there is no need for primer. Just use a good plastic paint and put it on with several thin coats and let it dry for a looooooong time before handling/re-installing.

I have driven my car probably 3500+ miles since it has been on the road (2 months or so). The arm rest wore off, I have easily 4-5 scratches or areas that have worn through, and another place where it is coming through, the seat belt buckle on one side is half red now. I did a lot of prep, scuffed, degreased, 3 coats of adhesion promoter and from 3-10 coats of black.

I will say it is eay to just touch it up with more color when needed, but a real black interior is the only way to go.

I recently used their Omni Pak interior and exterior paint. I did not use any primer at all. Just washed with soap and water and then some denatured alcohol and they came out fine. Great color match and seems durable to me. But I won't be throwing my keys on the dash or anything like that.

Priming and sealing interior panels is a waste of time anyways. All you need to do is make sure the panels are clean and paint them.

The dash in my Cobra is painted black. 6 years later, it is fine. But I used automotive paint. You can't expect a quality product from a 10 dollar can of paint. I bought a quart and sprayed it out of a spray gun.

I have heard the spray gun technique works much better and holds up a lot better also... Might be in the works if I can't find a mint original Black interior or dont go SN95 :D!

Absolutely!! It's been six years since the dash was done in my Cobra, and I wipe it with Armoral, my girl puts were bare feet below the air bag...and nothing bothers the paint!!
