5spd noise

I have put some Slick 50 High mileage ATF treatment (thick goo) in my gear case to try to quiet it down but still has this rumbling noise when in neutral with my foot off the clutch and when under power in 2nd and 3rd gear - easy or hard - stays the same - no other gears make noise. Seems to shift fine except about 10% of the time if I quick shift without completely depressing the clutch to the floor it will grind into 2nd or 3rd under full throttle. I have the clutch cable adjusted to put a slight preload on the throwout bearing and it is where I like it. Clutch is a new Centerforce Dual friction pressure plate and disc, new t/o bearing, new pilot bearing, new clutch fork, single hook aluminum quadrant, adjustable cable, Steeda Tri-Ax shifter, good flywheel surface, no contamination, etc... It also is sometimes difficult to put car in 1st gear when at a light when it turns green - clutch on floor & I have to jamb it in.

i have similar symptoms with my T5. mine seems to "whine". shifts fine. on occasion i can have the clutch to the floor and if its in R, wont hardly come out.

i too have a centerforce and a firewall adj , alum quadrant , new cable

kind of curious myself

just normal wear?

Seems like you're hearing the flywheel and clutch rotating when it is in netural. That's what I hear from mine. It goes away when I depress the clutch pedal disengaging the clutch from the rotating mass. Just a thought!

nothing to worry about?

Still concerned - I put the Slick 50 goo in there (8oz.) and the rest regular Dextron III -- been running it for 2 days now but the noise is still there - It does not seem to grind as often under hard acceleration shifts but I also may be taking it easier on her too. Still hard to put in 1st gear once in a while from a dead stop. I have read that 2nd and 3rd gear are famous for making a whine noise in 92/93 transmissions as they changed the gear tooth pitch to make it stronger but this is not a whine - this is a rumble type sound - not really dependant on throttle pressure - just there. Is it time to replace or rebuild the transmission - anybody know a good & inexpensive place that does this in Central VA? I have price quotes for 300-350 labor only with me suppling parts and taking the trans out and putting it back
