6 speed

I think youre wrong, but I could be wrong.... But I believe the cobras had a .62 6th and the camaros had a .50

Oh I don't know if there is a difference in the ratios of the gears (specifically 6th in this case), but I was just saying that the T56 is a pretty broadly used 6 speed. F-bodies, 03/04 cobras, and vipers.

Here's some clues...

1.) The driveshaft is shorter, the yoke is probably different
2.) The rear crossmemeber and transmission mount is different. The T56 mount needs to be welded in aft of the stock mount.
3.) The bellhousing is different, no bolt and go junkyard part will fit. McLeod ( http://www.mcleodind.com/index.html ) makes an adapter to mate an GM F body T56 to a 5.0 engine. It will takes some digging at their site to find all the parts. Call them if you are interested.
6.) You will need some sort of speedo adapter to mate the speedo cable to the trans. Some T56 are electronic speedo.
7.) The clutch disc is a 26 spline 10.5" chevy unit for most of the T56's.

The D&D kit is probably the simplest way to make it happen. See http://www.ddperformance.com for more info. Last time I heard it was like $2600 for the kit that had everything you needed. MM&FF magazine did a swap using one of ther kits. Check out the back issues for details.

MM&FF did the swap in one of their project cars, Jan 07 issue I think. The D&D crossmember mounts in the stock location, but it has more of a \____/ shape to accomodate the longer T-56 with the farther rearward mounting points. No modifications needed, can still swap back to a T-5 if needed.
