question. i went to the track this weekend and got my new best of 13.8@102 with a 2.5 60. if you drop x amount of time off you 60 what comes off the et? i just wanted to get an idea of where i would be when i figure out how to stop spinning or bogging off the line. this was only my third time ever going to the track and out of the last two times before the h/c i had a best of 14.2@99 with a 2.3 60.

with the 102mph and a 2.060ft you should be able to run low 13's maybe eek out a 12.9.

my next mods are going to be gears and tires. gears would increase the mph right? out of all my runs i notice higher mph if i shift a little bit earlier and get into fourth gear.

isn't the general rule that every .1 in the 60' is .15 at the other end?

Yes but with diff. tire compounds/build and at diff. times it is not so cut and dry.

Gears need to be matched to the powerband of the motor to allow the motor to stay in that powerband after shifting so the rpms dont drop too low, also if your motor revs hight/makes its power higher you want a gear to keep you in that power. If you get the wrong gears for your setup you can loose mph or gain it.

Gears are a good idea, as well as a good sticky tire.

I would say every tenth faster in your sixty foot is worth between a tenth and a half to two tenths at the end of the track. I think that you should be able to easily drop your 60' time to a 2.0 with practice on street tires, which would mean you would be running approximately 12.8. Get some drag radials and you could cut as low as 1.6-1.7's, consequently dropping your et to low/mid 12's.

I'm with Garrett!

1.5 to 2.0 tenths on the big end for every 1.0 tenth gained in the sixty foot.

I went 13.5 at 102 with a 2.3-2.4-ish 60ft.

While I agree the high 12's are preaty far out there with 102...it could happen...low 13's from like 13.1-13.3 are prob. going to be the gen location of the runs though.

If you cut a 2.0 60' expect a 13.0 at around 103 mph... I think your MPH will go up as well since the car will be accelerating sooner.

your cars must suck ass topend of the track to cut 2.0s and go13.0s at 102. like trapping 86 in the 1/8th with a 8.30 and only picking up 16mph topend

???

yet your sig shows 12.997 aka as high a 12.9 as you can get @ 102(even if it is almost 103) with a 1.7 60ft, and your saying what about a 10th slower at the same mph with 3tenths slower 60ft???

and then a 13.4 with a 102mph and a 1.9 60ft...

not flaming just wondering were this is coming from??

its a reference point...102mph should be good for low 13's with a ok 60ft. How low is dependent on alot of factors like tire, gear, shift point, alt., weather, overall combo, weight, driver.

So was your 12.997 (as close as 13.003 is to a 13.000) at 103 lifting then with a 1.9 60ft??

I am not flaming you...I agree with you if you mph at 102 you sould be running this number with a good 60ft. It does not go to say you will though.

The original question was: "you drop x amount of time off you 60 what comes off the et?" That's the question I answered. To run a 2.5 60', I am guessing he must not have a lot of track experience, therefore not yielding the absolute best times/mph. I am not saying he is a poor driver either, so don't go there. I think that with his combo 12's are easily obtainable, in which case his mph would most likely also increase.

You say 2.0 at 102 and running only a 13.0 "whithout lifting"

"your cars must suck ass topend of the track to cut 2.0s and go13.0s at 102. like trapping 86 in the 1/8th with a 8.30 and only picking up 16mph topend"

you went 12.997 at 103 with a 1.7 60ft and say they have a suck ass topend...your just going against what your saying/with what you run?

What are you saying...

yes.

sometimes though ET streets/drags can hurt your mph as the tire is a diff. compound so the drop in 60ft and the lower trap mph gets funky. You dont loose as much mph as you gain in 60ft so its mostly a gain overall.
