65/66 door install question

Can I put the doors on after the fenders are hung? Or do they need to be bolted on first? I can't remember how I disassembled them. I am leveling my clear coat, putting most of the car back together and then going to respray clear. Once I hang the fenders and adjust them I don't want to take them off again. I was planning on leaving the doors off, but if they go on first, then plans will change.

Without the doors on, what will you align the fenders to?

I would say you need the doors for that....just a guess......lol

good point. I figured I would do some final adjusting after the doors were put on. I have to put the entire interior in, I thought the chances of scratching the doors up were going to be high. That was the reason for waiting.

Ford installed the doors before painting the car, later painted fenders were installed. You should edge paint and assemble the car fully before painting for best results.
