I am doing an I6 to V8 conversion on my 65 Stang. I ordered a new V8 tank to pump fuel line, but it appears to be bent or formed incorrectly. The shop that I bought it from assures me that it is correct. The problem is that the section of the line that is in the engine compartment has a bend in it so that it would need to be routed outside of the shock tower. I believe it needs to be inside the shock tower. I don't see how it would work any other way. Does someone have a picture of their engine compartment so that I can see how it routes and where it is located once it reaches the engine compartment?

The fuel line on a V8 does exit the engine compartment just before the steering. First it goes under the frame, then bends to follow it up the side all the way to the front apron. Uses 2 or 3 clamps to the frame. There it goes up and then through the apron. You probably have a hole there already.

You may also have an issue with the front to rear brake line if you order brake lines for a dual exhaust car. There is a bracket spot welded to the back of the LH rear floor pan that holds the rear flex hose. THis bracket will need to be moved over more to the left side of the car. Maybe around 6"-8" There should be a couple stamped indents where the bracket should go. If you order brake lines for dual exhaust, the line will come accross the back of the floor pan past the existing bracket.

Your fuel line should follow the OUTSIDE of the front left frame rail, under the mounting bolts for the steering box, between the control arms, and then make a 90* turn in front of the shock tower into the engine bay through the +/- 1" hole in the apron. There should be a grommet in the hole and 2 clips holding the line to the outside of the of the front frame rail. I can't post pictures from this computer (work), but peruse eBay for pictures of the front left outer front frame rail area and of the front left part of the engine bay. You'll see the fuel line.

Thanks for the tips.

I am still waiting for the brake lines since they are on back order. From the looks of things the Versailles rear center brake hose is too short, so I will need to do something about that.

I figured it placed that bracket in a different location. I thought that would be good that the brake line is moved farther to the driver side or left side, since the Versailles center hose is over that way quite a bit more than the OEM center hose was.

What do the 2 or 3 fuel line clamps on the front look like? Do they look like any of these? If so, which ones? I imagine I will have to drill holes for them, or are they already there somewhere?

I already have this fuel/brake line clip set.

Would it be better to feed the front or rear of the fuel line into place first? It looks to me like the rear of the line needs to be in place first because of having the rear end to contend with. If I do that then the front won't be able to be manipulated around the suspension and steering etc. Thoughts?

I have looked quite extensively on ebay and google. I finally found a picture that shows the fuel line hanging in the area where it is supposed to be mounted. The picture is of a car with the fender removed that has been taken apart for bodywork etc, so the clips have been removed. I can't find a picture that shows where the clips are supposed to be. It would be great if someone with a V8 car would snap a couple pictures of the line in its secured location with the tabs/clips in place.
