65/66's--Like your Electric Fan

Hi--

I'm thinking of going with an electric fan for the GT. Got one of those 3.5 inch shrouds to help my stock fan and it won't fit due to the Sanden compressor that replaced the York. Anyway, I started thinking about Elec fans. What are you running and do you like it? Will it keep an AC'd car cool in 90+ temps that we have in south Louisiana?

I love my electric fan. It is just an Autozone special ($80 I think) and it does the job like no mechanical fan could. I have a .060 over bored 289 with A/C in Texas, so you know I push this thing to its limits. FWIW, I don't think an electric fan will do much if the rest of the cooling system is in bad shape, but it will surely go a long way to help a good functioning system.

I run a Flex-a-lite model #475 (Similar to their Black Magic fans but they are thinner for Classic Mustangs). The fan/shroud combo works great at cooling my 347 in So. Cal. summer heat. That being said I will forewarn that the early models had some design flaws with the circuit boards for the thermostat/relay. I think they have fixed them by now.

Blake--I figure we're both about the same temp. My cooling system is in good shape--just had the rad boiled out and cleaned up. I'm hoping to help my AC, too. How does this mount? Clips or through the rad?

Jeep wrangler? Who'd have thought that! How much space does this leave you between the rad and the front of the engine? That Sanden compressor pokes out a bit at the top and that's what seems to be causing the problem. This is interesting, though.

The hot ticket now for late models seem to be the 94/95 Cobra electric or the one from the Mark VIII. I have one that I am trimming the shroud on to use in my 66.

I run a 16" SPAL. Id say it's not worth any advantages it may have to have to deal with the noise it puts out. It's REALLY loud.

Except for the Rally Pac, you described exactly the car mine started out as. I'll try to dig up some pictures of the original color and post. Mine is currently Red on Red but I'm considering other color combo's at the moment.

The taurus fan also flows quite a bit of air. I would either go with the taurus, sn95, or the m8 if it will fit. Spal and Derale also make decent fans.
