Can anyone please post or e mail me detailed pics of the folding rear seats in a 65 Fastback? I have dissasembled mine, had them repainted, recarpeted, and all new chrome. I paid a "professional" to put it back together, and it is very half-assed and I don't think it was reinstalled properly. I can't really tell where everything goes from Fords diagram of the rear seat exploded view. So, if you have an original folding rear seat, with most parts in tack, could you take some pics for me. I need to see the seat in the up and down positions, the trap door (both sides please), and the rear floor panel. I would GREATLY appreciate anyones assistance with this! Thank you in advance.

I checked my pictures and don't have any that will help. Try looking through some catalogs, like VA Mustang, etc.

If you post some more specifics on what you think is installed wrong, I may be able to help.

Here is a link to a write up I did on another mustang site detailing a resto I did to my rear seat...it has many pictures:

If the pics aren't showing up, give it time...I can't see if my site is up or down at this facility, it looks like it is down, but it might just be blocked.

You can also go to my site at:

Scroll down to one of most recent monthly updates and click on the fold down seat resto line item....many pictures there that should help you.

I don't have my car here to take pics, but maybe this will help. :)

Here goes.

A goes at the back, by the trap door. It has a grand total of 6 screws holding it down

B installs first, so that there is room to bolt down the 2 metal tabs that end up underneath A once installed.

Piano hinge goes next. It uses the same little screws that go around the perimeter of the pieces, and I can see how you’d attach all the chrome around the edges of the carpet and then look at the hinge and wonder: wtf?

C is a piece of cake. ;)

OK, First off thank you for the reply's.

Particulars, I need to know where the bumpers are to be placed. I have all new screws and mounting kits, and have figured out most, but I need to place the bumbers properly. Also, on the rear deck. What do the long machine srews screw into? Are there screws on both sides of the rear deck, or only the sides with the seat stops? The rear deck and bumpers are what I'm most concerned with. Thanks again.
