Just got her done, Im looking for some rims, tires. Thinking of torque thrust 2s , or crager ss, what size, back spacing, tire size do I need, do not want to do any metal work , no rubbing etc. thanks mac
do not go with newer style sizes simply wont fit as the offset is different. if you go with TT's you can get them espically made for your model stang and places like S&S tire and Goodyear has those sizes handy. be prepared to hand over some money for the tt2's. i wanted em too but it would cost about 1500 bux..now im abuot to buy some 14 inch magnum 500's for my 65 for like 500 bux do as you need fit
First of all.....you want a maximum of 4.75" of backspacing. You can run a 16 or 17" rim with that backspacing. You can buy these wheels....OFF THE SHELF for less than a grand. I think the Chrome ones are less than a grand. If you want to run a late model rim, you can order a spacer from ebay ($140 for a set of 4) that will allow you to run these wheels with no problems.
As for tires sizes. You can go up to 245/45/17s in the rear and about 235/45/17s in the front. I run 245/45/17 in the rear and 225/50/17s in the front. I do have my rear fenderlip rolled, but I dont thinkthe rims would have rubbed if I hadnt rolled. If you want to play it really safe, you can run 235s in the rear and 225s in the front.

Speaking of TT-D style wheels, who makes the machined billet flat center caps with the Shelby logo? I seem to recall that the guy who builds the Trans-Am Racing brake booster kits also machines the center caps for the AR Torq Thrust wheels and the Vintage Wheelworks V45 TT "clones". Anyone know for sure?
