I have a 65 coupe that is currently a 289 w/ a c4. i also have a wrecked 94 gt mustang with a 5.0 and a t5. can somebody give me a list of parts that i can take off of the 94 and put into the 65. i want to do the engine and tranny swap but i dont know what all i will need to buy. also i am not sure if i will run the efi or just go carbed.

Also will the seat from a 94 mustang work on a 65. I know that custom tracks will be necesary but has anyone done it.

You can a good list of required parts on the Windsor-Fox web site, but I'd actually purchase the parts elsewhere. The decision to go efi or carburetor will have EVERYTHING to do with what you need to do...electronically speaking.

if you need a new harness and havent welded up exhaust, i would go with efi, as this will be harder to change later. you will get better milage and more power with efi. also, you need to consider whether or not you want a serpintine belt or v-belt.

Engine:
You could convert the 5.0L engine to early accessory drive and carburetor OR you can leave it with late model serpentine accessories and convert them to mate to the early car. Either approach works. Converting the engine to early accessories is the easiest and simplest approach but you lose the EFI in the process.

Transmission:
You can use either the early Toploader clutch box or the late model clutch box to mate engine to transmission. Using the early clutch box allows you to keep z-bar clutch linkage in the car. Using the late model clutch box requires you to either convert to cable clutch linkage or to adapt the late clutch box to allow use of early fork and clutch linkage.

No one can provide a list to you until you say what approach you wish to use for engine and transmission. The contents of the list depend on your choices.

From the www.windsor-fox.com FAQ:

Q**Can I use a 94 or 95 Mustang engine, or Explorer "crate engine" as a starting point.

A**Yes, however, no one currently offers a modified computer harness to simplify the wiring installation. The engine harness is not compatible with the earlier computer harness, also the processor (computer) has a different pin layout. Nearly all of the connectors are of a different "design family" and will not mate the earlier more common connector types. To complicate things even further, the EGR is externally fed, and this will undoubtedly create a problem configuring the exhaust system. You must have the EGR system in place and operating to prevent detonation. The 86 to 93 Mustang intakes have the EGR feed internally routed through the lower intake manifold, so there is no need for external plumbing. Probably more importantly, the 94, 95 and crate engines have a different timing case cover, water pump and must use an electric cooling fan. The fact that these were in production for only two years in the Mustang also makes it much tougher to find salvaged parts, compared to the 8 year span of Mustangs that all used the "previous series" of front dress/brackets and accessories. Without question, for all swap applications, the 86 to 93 intake and engine accessory pieces are the ones to get for your swap. What all this means is if you get a good deal on a 94, 95 salvaged engine, or if you choose to start with a crate engine; just be prepared to dispose of some of the pieces that you will not use in addition to the labor to change these parts.

i am thinking of going carbed because i know it will be much cheaper and easier. so i will use the early alt and mechanical fan if i go carbed. i dont know the difference between the styles of clutches so i need someone to explan those. i have thought about the rearend is that a hard swap. i will probably go with the original v belt just because of cost. that answers basicallly all you questions so any more help would be great
