Hi all--

I've been doing some reading on the (suicide) single to double Master Cylinder setup. I have a few questions before I attempt this.

I have a double MC already that should drop right in. I have one line that comes to a T and splits--I assume this is the front discs. I have one line that comes to an adjustable proportioning valve and then dissappears down the firewall under the car. I going out on a limb here and assuming that is the rear line!

My question is on plumbing. Will I keep the proportioning valve? All I should need to do is remove the old MC, bench bleed the new one, bolt it in and bend two new pieces of line--one to the T and one to the proportioning valve? Correct? I've heard some people say I need an adjustable push rod for the pedal and some say I don't.

How hard is it to bend and flare the line? I have no problems buying tools, so that is fine with me!

I may not have learned much, but I finally learned to A) ask questions before you take it off and that B) things that seem easy rarely are.

Thanks all!

You should keep the adjustable proportioning valve Paul as it helps you fine tune the braking. You are correct about the plumbing. You need to run a new line from the tee going to the front brakes into the largest resevoir of the MC which is usually the back. You will also run a new line from the adjustable proportioning valve to the smaller of the MC resevoirs which is usually the front. You can buy short enough premade lines at the auto parts store so you woon't have to flare the ends. Get them long enough so you can bend o loop in them kind of like the coil of a spring to give them the flexibility to facilitate installation. You don't have to coil them if you can bend them in a way to make them fit....that is just the way the factory always made them.

The adjustable pushrod is usually only needed for power brake situations from what I have heard. I usually use the pushrod that comes with the dual MC and they have always fit just fine. You should check the length though if it worries you. You can make your own adjustabe pushrod pretty easily. The last dual MC I was messing with was one out of a Granada and the rod that came with it was the perfect length.
