Boy I'm about giddy as they come. I took it to the 1/8 mile again. The best was the first run with 1.78 60 ft. and 7.93 at 87.7 mph. I could have braket raced that night boy I tell you what. It ran 7.93, 7.95, 7.96.(except I can't cut a tree to save my life) I don't know why it was slowing. I didn't hot lap it. But I'm going to the 1/4 track this Sat. I'm bringing ice and the Bottles coming this time!!!! I'll be shooting for 11's somewhere on the last run. I'll only get one shot seeing as I don't have a cage yet.
I am very suprised so far for what it's running. All my internals are very heavy. My rods alone are 98 grams heavier than late models with ARP's. (fat pigs right ?)
I raced a late model SS camaro for the first run. I look over and see his friend talk to him after looking at my car and hear him say" smoke that piece of ^@$#!) Hehe, nuthin but tailights baby. Sorry to gloat guys but I love that I built 99% of this car and it's doing great. Wish me luck, I tend not to have the best of luck in 1/4 Mi.

Good luck! With times like that, you should be in the low 12's at the 1/4, so 11's on a bottle should be no problem.

Try stepping on the gas the instant the last yellow light comes on the tree. Just a thought.....to cut a better tree.

Ummm...I thought 11s meant a rollbar only not a cage with a hardtop, and 10s meant full cage with a hardtop. What sanctioning body is that?

I'm curious (and a little concerned) since I am planning on low 12s with my convertible that is more cruiser than racer. I've got the 4-point but a cage is just not in my plans at all. I thought a 12.99 required the bar and my 1st ever 11.99 I get kicked out (being a convertible and all).

Your setup sounds good. www.fordmuscle.com has a build up on a 302 67 coupe with a toploader 4 speed that hit high 11's on all carb. They are now in the process of adding a supercharger. Good luck.............

Sorry it takes me so long guys. In this world of wonderful technology I still don't have a computer.... But I'm still carbed so I guess that isn't saying much.
Well today sucked butt. I get to the track to find I FORGOT MY TOOLBOX!!! Then I go to pull the car of the trailer and the damn floats are stuck. So no jet changes today, timing adjustments..... Told you guys I have bad luck or dumb luck as the case may be.
Trees are getting a little better. On two motor runs the best I got was 1.73, 7.93 1/8 and 12.577 at 103.66. Where's the MPH ?!?! I almost ran that with my old set up on low 13's ?!?! I should be around 107-109. And that is why I think the time sucked, too. The MPH doesn't match the time ya know ? Well the only thing I can think of is I have a slightly bent rim. Which I was told I had after my final nitrous run.(YIKES!) I can definetly see and feel it now. I thought it was the track ruts. It was a little warm today, but not 5 mph worth.
On to the nitrous. I ran a 100 shot from the beginning of 2nd the first time to ensure tire hookage. It worked. 12.190 at 113.23. The next run was slighly more impressive one, but still sucked. I hit it from 5k in first and it hooked. I missed 2nd (how do you miss 2nd in an auto ?). I don't have a ratchet shifter. I have the pistol grip hurst and when I went to grab for the handle it was time to shift. I ever so slightly pulled back the handle putting the damn car into 3rd and almost nuetral. So I let of because if I hit N on nitrous, by by motor. I down shifted, re-applied the juice and went on to a 12.026 at 113.49. Not quite the times I was expecting...but in all fairness it's promising. Can't blame the car for my stupidity.
I would have stayed for bracket racing,I would have gotten at least three more runs, and at night, but my tranny and rearend are both leaking like a couple of stuck pigs.
