67 fb gas fill neck/tank install question

The body shop is putting my car back together. When you look through the taillight panel the fuel fill neck goes in and to the left to the tank. It does not go straight through to the tank. Is this correct? Anyone notice if the fill neck is straight or offset between the taillight panel and the tank? My trunk drop offs, rear cross brace, gas tank and rear quarters were cut out and are now being put back together. Just want to make sure this is correct. Thanks..

I'm not 100% sure I follow what you're saying, but I don't think that's right. How far offset is it? I believe the hole in the taillight panel should be on the same axis, front to rear, as the filler on the tank.

Just a guesstimate, I would say it is 1/3 to 1/2 offset. I looked at a 67 coupe yesterday and it was offset as well.. seems strange though. Just want to make sure this is correct before too much gets welded in place.. thanks..

It's offset a bit, plus the trunk latch braket is offset the other way, which makes it look more offset than it really is. If it's off a bit, don't worry about it, since the filler pipe is mounted to the tank with a rubber hose.

I had to go check mine, because I was SURE it was centered. I was wrong...

Huh. Well, if it's off it's not off so much that I ever noticed. Interesting. I no longer have a fully-assembled 67-68 around to check. I'll check my '66 at the shop just out of curiosity.

I just got in from out of town and it's too late to look right now. I'll check in the a.m. on my 68.

EDIT: Yep. It is offset to the driver's side, just a touch.
