FINALLY, FINALLY! After nearly 7 months of what was going to be a 1 month job There is finally some black paint on my car, as of now its only in the trunk and on the misc. small parts, but it won't be long now before its on the rest of the car. I had to go have a little tough talk with my body man this past weekend, told him we've messed around long enough and the next time I come, I'm bringing a trailer and getting my car, painted or not. So hopefully I will be posting more pics within a week of a shiny black coupe.

Yeah, i know my trunk is a little banged up, and he wanted to fix that so bad, but i cant see spending an extra 500 bucks on something im going to throw carpet over anyway.

cool deal hopefully he will get on it. I had my car painted not to long ago, seeing paint instead of primer was exciting. Good luck with that.

Yes...i may add a GT stripe to the bottom of it...and that will be a vinyl decal. but I am thinking about taking the black a step further and painting the bumpers and all the little trim like taillight bezels and such black as well...but thats just a thought rolling around in this empty head of mine.

I`ve been thinking of shadow chrome on black for mine.

Feel free to steal my idea though, that way we can we what yours looks like before i do mine. Do all the shinys in shadow chrome. the stainless, the door handles, bumpers, vent windows, drip rails, all of it, I think it would look good. And on the plus side, I`ve never seen a car done this way.

I assume by shadow chrome you are talking about that black chrome? I think that would be a slick look, I ALMOST got black chrome wheels. I am going to leave it in regular chrome, but Im not replacing the drip rails, going to leave that black, and there are going to be no emblems or antenna. The only chrome will be the fr and rr window trim, bumpers, door handles, quarter and vent window frames, wheels, taillight bezels and thats about it. Not doing any wheel well trim or the rocker panels.

Yes I ment black chrome.

I think Duplicolor calls it shadow chrome though, I saw them use it Musclecar on a saturday morning, looked good. My chrome isn`t really perfect or anything is one of the reasons I was thinking about it.

So is this a paint you are talking about? I was talking about an actual chrome, it just has a black hue to it. I hit all my stainless with some polish and shined it up like new, my bumpers had apparently been used for what their name implies...bumping stuff, so they got replaced as well. But i have seen some 67's without the front bumper and they actually dont look that bad (Terlingua Racing etc...) I would LOVE to do a Terlinqua tribute car one day.

I have a problem with anything that comes out of a spray can. Its going to chip and then you are going to have to try and touch it up and it will look crappy. It might work good on some interior chrome pieces, but there is no way I would put that on a wheel or anything that is going to see the sun a lot or possibly get hit with bugs/stones/ or any other debris. But it did look good...at first anyway. I have been dabbling in paint/body for 15 years now and have seen too many products like this, thats just a cheap alternative for getting it done right (at the chrome shop).

I`ll have plenty of time to think

And save money while I`m block sanding for the next few months anyway, so I may rethink this and go another direction, I dont really even know yet. It`s so freaking hot I can`t hardly do anything for long outside anyway. We are looking at 108 degree forecast today.

You can make a car look however you want to bro...you just need to make a plan and stick with it and don't pay any attention what critics say (unless you are asking for an opinion on something) and stick to your guns...don't settle for one item when you can get what you want...it may take longer to acquire what you want, but in the end it will be worth it.
