67 stang bad vibration fix advice? take 2

ok guys this is part 2 of the bad vibration post.

well ive decided to just use the c4 trany that came with the 88 5.0 motor . i wasnt going to use it before becasue i had just rebuilt my 67 c4. but come to find out for some reason my torque converter and bellhouseing for my 67 c4 is smaller than the 88 c4. so since i cant seem to find the right flywheel i just finished rebuilding my 88 c4 tranny here at work. will this c4 from the 88 work with my driveline ..... ??? is there any differances in the lenth of the trany or anything like that? or is there any reason the c4 from the 88 will not work? well if it doesnt work i have a fresh rebuilt c4 im sure i can use in something. any advice would be nice. and thanks again for the help you have all aready given

There was no 1988 model C-4. The C-4 was discontinued in about 1979-80 ( this is also why the 157 tooth 50oz/in flexplates are a special order item, Ford never installed a C-4 behind a 50oz/in balance 5.0, they came out in the 82 or so model year.) You probably have a C-5 if it looks like a C-4. The difference there is the C-5 is basically a C-4 with a lockup converter. The C-5's also all had 164 tooth bellhousings, which is why your 67 flexplate doesn't work.
