I searched the threads and could not find the answer. Can I use the "original" Master Cylinder for the swap and just install a proportioning valve? If not, has anyone used the early 90's fox power MC? how tough is the swap?
If you had drums up front, you can't correctly use the same master. You can use the mid 90's m/c, but its got to be around the same bore size, smaller will make the brakes touchier.
A drum circuit has a residual pressure valve in the master under the brass insert the fitting seats on. It’s just a small rubber check valve with a small spring.
Your best bet, if you have drums in back is to get the disc/drum m/c for your ‘67. It’ll bolt right up. You do need a metering device of some type weather it be adjustable (not my favorite) or just the correct proportion valve set-up for any car (Granada is a good choice) about the same weight as yours.
Thanks, I think I am going to go with a MC and powerbooster from a late model. I will have to use an adjustable pedal rod unless I get lucky and find one that will work ok. I got an email from a guy off of corral, that the booster from an 91 Taurus and the MC from an Bronco II will fit together and is a "perfect fit" for original pedal height. I am heading over to the salvage yard for the booster and to Pep Boys for the new MC. Don't want to mess with ajunkyard MC, and shoot, it's only $45 bucks. I will post a pick and performance info on the swap at a later date. Thanks again.
Well, I went to the salvage yard and it was a no go on fit. I picked up a 1980 Granada Disc/drum Manual MC and it will work. I just switched out the pedal rods as the Granada's rod was almost 3/4" too long. Thanks for the help all. As always you rule!
