69' Hood - Repro or Ford tooling?

I'm about to buy a replacement hood for the Mach1, does anyone have any experience with the repro hoods? All the vendors sell the repro versions for about $100 less than the Ford tooling version. I just wondering if the repro hoods are substantially inferior, ie need alot of work or are made from a thinner guage of metal.

I'm willing to spend the $$$ for the Ford tooling hood, but if the repro is nearly the same and just needs a little more work, then I might try to save a few bucks.

You get what you pay for. Keeping the hood hinges soaked in oil may prevent the Taiwanese one from bending in half when you try to close it.

lol, I was amused with your first answer about potentially bending the hood. That doesn't give me any confidence in the repro.

If you can get a Ford Tooling hood, buy that over a repop. You'll be much happier with your purchase.

a pointless update - I ordered the Ford tooling hood from NPD. $100 freight shipping charge. It'll be here tomorrow though.

I'll try to post some pics when it arrives....
