69 mach I 9" rear in a 66?

Some of yall saw my post about the deal that I found on the 65. Well, I talked to the guy and he is willing to trade me just the 9" out of the car.

He said it was a 9" nodular trac lock rearend rebuilt with auburn gears. The rearend is out of a 69 mach I and is installed a 65 coupe. Are those rearends the same width? I can probably get this 9" rear for my 8" plus $200 or so.

OK...im sitting here thinking....

I have 1" wheel spacers/adapters on my car to move the wheels out an inch in the rear. The 69 mach I rearend is 2" wider than a stock rearend but has the spring perches in the right place. In theory, I could install this rearend and get rid of the 1" wheel spacers and everything should fit....right?
