I have a 69 hardtop that I've owned for about 15 years. It hasn't seen much use the last few years (I had a 97 Cobra convert), now it needs some repairs.

I need outside mirrors. It has the painted mirrors on it, but the part the holds the glass is broken. Can I buy just inside?

Also, any info on front door glass, reglueing & adjustment.

One last thing... Anyone have any good references for resto-mods? Can I put last model Cobra disc brakes, maybe upgrade front suspension?

Thanks

Don't know about the mirrors. For the door glass you can clean them up and reglue them. There are a few threads concerning this on here, just use the search. You can swap 70 bolt in glass if you can find any, I understand the picking is getting thin. I got my glass out of a 70 cougar. Cougars are often overlooked, especially for the coupes.

Check the magazines, cruise-ins, car shows and scan this site for restomod trends. There's also some threads on here about what works and what doesn't on the brakes. Again I have 70 cougar front disks, all 70s V8 mustangs and cougars with disk brakes, have the bigger diameter spindle that was only on the 69 Boss cars. And someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the granada's are the same as the 70s.

Ideas

Hey Shelby69 -

Is that allentown PA? IF so, PM me. I have two sport mirrors, one with a damaged base, other needs painting.

As for brakes, Just do a search here! Granada conversions, Masterpower brakes, Other upgrades, it's all here waiting for you! I did a mix of Granada & Masterpower to go from 4 wheel drum to power front disc.

This forum is Loaded with resto-mod ideas! Get searching! :nice:

Not sure about swapping, I have a 69 coupe and a 70 vert, and the stainless trim that has the rubber on it between the front and rear window is on the front window on one of the cars and the rear window on the other. Not sure if that is because one is a ragtop, or because one is a 70. You may want to get some info if your gonna buy site unseen.

edit, I just went out and looked, the 69 coupe has the trim on teh front window, the 70 ragtop has it on the rear window.

that is the quarter window trim and seal, if you change to 70 glass you'll have to change those parts as well you'll also have to change the quarter windows themselves as they are different between 69 and 70 but both are still glue in, only the front windows on a 70 bolt in.

I used the 69 trim/weatherstrip on the 70 glass. I'm going to modify the quarter window area by extending the door post to the roof and a fixed window so I won't need the piece on the glass.

FYI, I've been looking for one of those strips for my 69 coupe for 3 years and never found one, I just got Virginia Mustangs special flyer and they are now available............WOOT :D

Seriously?!?!?!? For the coupe/vert glass? I remeber they just only started to finally reproduce this piece for the sportsroof just a few years ago. Used ones have been outrageously priced too.

OOPS, it says fastback/sportroof, how different can they be, the pic looks like mine?

Awe man, I was afraid that you were going to say that. :( I was all excited for a second there. I have been told they are actually pretty different. If you end up buying one though and find out it does fit or find a way to modify itthen please let me know, I will happily follow your lead.

BTW Worth, which side do you need? The parts car I am still deciding to buy or not has it on the drivers door still and I won't need it. Mine are fine, just not so pretty anymore.

Cool, you all set with a trailer or you want to borrow mine?

Actually that is the one thing I have not accounted for yet, which is why I haven't decided what weekend to pick it up. I already have a friend that has agreed to let me store it at his house in Attleboro so I did not have to incure the additional expense of towing it all the way to NH from Wrentham. I figure better to leave it semi protected there under my car cover than to leave it open to the weather at Tosey's all winter until I can tear into it in the spring.

Hmmm, I may just take you up on that Worth, though we'll have to find another part or two on the car that you need, I don't think one piece of window trim will cover the return on that favor.

JUst give me a warning when you need it and I'll make sure it's at my house, it's a half hour closer to the bridge than my Auto shop. For towing purposes it's a 2"ball hitch and if you care about lights it's got a 4 prong cole hearsey round plug.
