Hi guys in 1969 was the shoulder belt an option I live in New Orleans and I will be getting ready to get my first Inspection sticker and man these guys here are real _ _ _ holes and will turn me around for just about anything they can find, and charge me and give me a big fat rejection sticker with a time limit to fix anything they find and I know it will not be enough time to order stuff and put it in the car.:ban:

My car has lap belts that fit into a neat spot on the center console. There is a hole in the headliner that looks like where a shoulder belt should attach and I'm afraid if they look inside my car and (they will!) get in it and check the emergency brake they will see those holes and tell me that the car came with shoulder belts so I better get some, Now!!!

If you guys say that it didn't come with shoulder belts( I hope you do) is there any site were I can print this info to show to them when they question me on it at the time of rejection.:nono:

I don't think shoulder belts were available on any '69s. My convertible doesn't have them, but I don't think the coupes and fastbacks had them either. The state inspection people should know that, unless they're completely incompetent. They probably have a chart that shows which vehicles came with factory shoulder belts and which didn't.

Hardtops and Fastbacks had shoulder belts starting in 68. Unfortunately, as you have found evidence of in your car, they were a two piece setup with the lap belt and shoulder belt each having their own buckles. They were very inconvient to use and not much on comfort either. Sounds like a PO has removed the shoulder belts so I guess you will be searching for a set of belts as I am sure you won't pass inspection without them.
