Got the 351 in the 69.It has the factory high performance manifolds. The problem is theres a 1/4 inch from manifold to shock tower.Probably ok ,but the drivers side is up against the steering box.Anybody got the same setup and is it so tight? Will probably be looking into headers .Thanks 75 mustang II

What do you mean by "factory high performance manifolds"? IMO none of the cast iron factory manifolds flow well enough for a 351. Definitely get headers.

I have a 68 with a 69 351W, I'm running heddman headers. I don't really have any bad clearance problems. I have about 1 1/2 inches on drivers side.

I still have room to change spark plugs.

the 351w used log style exhaust manifolds. the hipo 289 manifolds as you found out dont fit. headers are your best option.

From what I have read in the past, Hooker Supercomps fit will because of the one of the slip tubes. The stock manifold for the 351w on the drivers side looks nothing like the passanger side. If you are running stock linkage clutch linkage, good luck with fitting anything.

The 69/70 351w stock exhaust manifolds can be ported to flow as well as any header. The difference between the 69 and 70 manifolds is that on the drivers side, 69 exits downward and 70 exits to the back... or maybe the other way around.
