You could call around other part stores and see what they say. I know that different parts of the country have different part stores though Autozone charges $200 or so for it

well I don't have any good advice for you but what I would do if I was in a hurry is see if I could find a parts store that had them both in stock and go see if they are physically the same. if they are obviously the wiring would not be a big deal. or find someone with a 98 and just look the thing over good.

I have a feeling they will be some small little thing different but I am not sure.

for example just the 2001 bullitt takes a different alt. I don't know what is different but if you want to run that aluminum intake you need a different alt.
