Ok, so last night on the way home from from work i decided to take an on-ramp rather speedily we'll say. gotta open up the old girl occasionally, right?. anyways after taking 2nd to 5000 ish rpm i took it out of gear and the rpm's went all the way to 7000 it wasn't up there very long (2-3 seconds) and i freaked out. the throttle got stuck somehow (i don't think it was a carpet problem but who knows).

she doesn't seem broke, although i was running a little hotter going in to work today, not by very much though.

what should i be concerned about / check, to make sure i didn't break her.

With a stock computer you did NOT hit 7000 RPM. The only possible way to see anything ovr 6300 or so is to jamb it into the wrong gear on a full throttle run. These cars have a fuel cut off at 6250, so unless it was hitting a rev limiter, you were below that RPM. As far as if that is bad or not, some have differing opinions, I personally have been launching my car at the track off the rev limiter and haven't had issues yet. I wouldn't be too concerned. As far as running hotter, thats what happens with RPM, you build heat.

ok well that's a bit of a relief... other than a carpet problem, what could cause that?

as to my knowledge it is basically stock everything, engine wise at least.

the running hotter was this morning on my way to work. 12 hours after i red lined it... but i guess it could just be me being parinoid.

The tachs are not too accurate on the FOX bodies. No stock FOX that I have had has ever been able to go over 6,000-6,100. I would say the tach just got bumped....

I've missed gears before and it would seem that the needle bounces up to 7k (on my autometer, not the stocker), but i would think something would break on a stock short block if you did in fact hit 7k.

my stock tach hits 7k before it hits the limiter, this is on the 87-93 tach, on my 86 it hits just barely after 6200, its spot on for being older.

I bounced mine off the limiter and I hit recall on my tach and it showed 6500....
