73 sbf what is it?

There is about 4" long, 1/8" thick rod in the coolant passage inside the block, going from the bottom to the head plane, right next to the middle freeze plug. It can be seen only when the freeze plug is removed. Somebody knows what it is for? There are two additional rods in other places too. it is 73 302 windsor.

ive never seen a rod in my coolant passage and ive had about a half dozen 302's torn down... do you have pics??? is the rod loose of cast??

I've seen em in big blocks, it's nothing to concern yourself over. It's a rod that kept the cores of the mould in place while the iron was poured. Leave it be.
